Dan mengejutkan buat saya adalah it’s bloody well written.
Saya tidak memberikan buku ini bintang lima,(mungkin karena buku ini anehnya sedikit menyentil saya, dan sekaligus mengganggu) but as a first novel that he wrote, it’s not that bad at all. This is a lousy story with a style. Kudos mate!! ...more

She was a product of neglected child and abused by her mother, physically and mentally. But somehow she managed to be independent and went to uni and become the first black judge in UK and also a barrister. It's a very moving and motivated story that taught us that everything is possilble as long as there is a will.
When reading the story as if I was seeing a story from 8 years old girl point of view. And somehow i feel embarrased of my self whenever i read this book, I'm coming from happy family and yet I havent be somebody, not just yet :)...more

Like Adena Halpern, the author, my clothes are also carry stories with them, one thing that I didn't realize until I read this book. This book is all about the story behind each clothes, one clothes at a time, starting from her torn short, father's boxer underwear, Vera Wang's-broken heart-gown til the oscar night evening gown. Yet she still wears target underwear. Although she couldn't control her love life but at the very least she can control what she wants in her closet. Well, having read this boook, I remember my first pair of naf naf shoes and kid size tshirt that I bought in a kid section not because it was the trend of kid size tees but simply because I was too petit to wear any other tees, but not long after that the tight tees became very booming. Well, at least at that time, i felt like I was the trendsetter. And yes, come to think of it, I do have stories behind every dress at every phase in my life. I like this book, really....more

Long time ago, My former boyfriend used to quote his poems to impress me. But at that time I didn't want to buy any of his books to read more about him. I'm not a poetic person, I was struggling to intrepet Chairil Anwar back when I was in school and eventhough rarely I wrote love poems for my former boyfriends and if at all it were like unpoetic poems.
Until one day, I remember it was monday afternoon, I had tea with my favorite couple (now they split up) at Border in singapore a year ago, they gave me this book. I was so agog because of its beautiful purple colour cover, the crispiness of the papers and the beauty of the pictures inside te book. It's so exquisite. And felt like returning the book to them and asked them to buy me Zara's or mango's top instead. But it never happened when I opened the first page, I loved it. Now I realized why my former boyfriend was so hooked on this Poet, simply because he's fantastic. And this book it's all about Kahlil Gibran writings, starting from the famous "the Prophet", The garden of the prophet, the madman, the wanderer, etc.
And I sounded like my former boyfriend but this is one of his many poems that I really really love:
Then Almitra spoke again and said, And what of Marriage, master? And he answeared saying: You were born together, and together you shall be for evermore. You shall be together when the white wings of death scatter your days. Aye, you shall be together even in the silent memory of God. But let there be spaces in your togetherness. And let the winds of the heavens dance between you.
Love one another, but make not a bond of love: Let it rather be moving sea between the shores of your souls. Fill each other's cup but drink not from one cup. Give one another of your bread but eat not from the same loaf. Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone, Even as the strings of a lute are alone though they quiver with the same music. Give your hearts, but not into each other's keeping. For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts. And stand together yet not too near together: For the pillars of the temple stand apart, And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other's shadow.

Ron Koertge menceritakan dengan jujur dan too painfully true....more

For me this book is not asI like Sophie Kinsella and all of her books, but I coldn't seem to like this book as much as I like other Kinsella's books. For me this book is not as funny as let's say the shopaholic and the character is not as strong as any other character in other books. And too bad because I always gave Kinsella's book at least 4 stars from 5 stars and couldn't do for this one. In this book, in my opinion, Kinsella failed to show the readers the climax and the anti climax, for me it seemed too bland and she seemed too rush to finish the story.
The book is about a 28 year old woman, named Lexi Smart who happened to meet an accident and pang just like that she got an amnesia. And she couldn't remember what had happened to her for the last three years. And when she woke up suddenly she felt that she lived in a dream world, cause she got a very good position, a very handsome rich husband, a very sophisticated ultra modern loft style living apartment and a perfect body and face. But things was not as perfect as she tought. One by one reality hit her, it was sureal. And at the end she could manage to leave all behind her, just like that and as simple as that.
Geez,.. I think this is the time to stop reading chick lit. Luckly I only borrowed this book from the library....more

“What if you were given a Ticket that could magically start your life anew?”
Will you take it or just put it aside because you don’t believe that you could change?
In life sometimes people be a person that they have became not a person that they want to become. Living in people’s perspectives and afraid to change them, living in their comfort zone even though secretly they hate it, succumbs every words that people said to them without filtering them first, afraid to make mistake if they take a step further thus they decide to stay behind, living with their past and not be able to move on, living with negative thoughts and somehow those thoughts are dominating in every step of their life and the worst part is that, despites of the crappy, unhappy life, they don’t want to change it.
This book is such inspirational novel, although to me this book is not as good as Albom’s but it taught me as a reader to contemplate what I have done in order to be a person that I want to become and yet I still have lot of things to learn to become one. I want to be a person that enjoy life and make the most of it. And after reading this book I hope it would help me to change my perspective from a goner to a doer. So yes, if I was given the ticket, I definitely would take it! ...more

She observed her family, her former crush and her murderer from above.
This is a story about Salmon's family in the eye of Sussie Salmon, 13 year of aged after her dissapearance. How her family and those who closed to her were struggling to overcome with awful tragedy that happened to her.
For me this book is quite unique because I haven't really read a book like this, of course Desperate houseviwes serial is quite similiar- where Marry-ane is seeing all her neighbourhood from "the other place". First few chapters were very intriguing but at the middle it was quite tedious up to last few chapters.
Eventhough the police were not be able to captured the murderer but I think in real life these things do happen when not every bad guy has the right punishment, after all sometimes life is not fair.
