Jennifer Weiner has yet to disappointing. She is the writer who showed me that "chic lit" doesn't have to be all high heels and pink book jackets.
She just tells great stories, writes great characters and the books engage you and are a joy to read. (I could do without the one sex scene usually included in her books... but they are relatively TAME. I am just not into that. I wonder if she has to do that for her publisher.

The book practically floated out of my hand and the storyline was so very outlandish. However, I finished it. It kept me entertained, eyes rolling the whole way through. She has written much much better stories and I have to wonder if this was a churn and burn to meet some publisher criterion. (less)

This book is awesome though because it is more a dramatization or elaboration on historical non-fiction... very small and seemingly insignificant moments in time are bought to life. (less)

This book does an amazing job of explaining the mechanisms behind the cycle of addiction as it pertains to food and offers supplementary lifestyle changes that can augment and support a detox and abstinence period.
The author tries to give a lot of insight into what it takes to get to that revelatory "breaking point" moment - when you are ready to commit to change and stop the behavior. However, I don't think it's possible to get someone to that point by writing about it. The key is to pick the book up when you are fed up (pun intended). Would be excellent to read with this book: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/11...(less)

The larger than life characters were stellarly developed and so the book provokes you on many levels -- its got the thrills and the laughs and the spectacle and the heartwarming emotional human-experience landing. This book was sort of a flat liner - but it entertained me. Toward the end it took a more serious turn and in juxtaposition with the relative lightweight of the entire story it made the whole book look bad. It did have some great passages of pop-culture commentary on our consumer culture which I loved. I may want to check out his non-fiction. (less)

Just.... not interested in what one woman who I have nothing in common with did each month to tackle her "resolutions" that were kind-of universal, I admit, but still... there was nothing radical about this book at all. I have no clue why this book generated so much buzz. (less)

It was a fun ride that held my interest, I'd love to see it as a film with more character development. (less)

Ultimately he ends up finding his truth, in a way. Something about this book just left me....wanting. (less)

Marketing the Paleo diet to an audience that I think is ripe and eager for the next "diet trend" This book is picks up where "Skinny Bitch" left off. I do think the author was right in noticing the stereotype of "paleo" as being "caveman" and a diet for man who are marrow and raw meat and bringing it into a more palatable lifestyle. ANYWAY - Paleo = NO PEANUT BUTTER. That's just...no. (less)
