Cindy Daniels is one of the most popular kids in school. She's dating the star quarterback, she's a cheerleader, and she has some awesome friends. She has a secret, however. On Halloween, she and a group of other teenagers turn into superheroes who police the mythological creatures that many believe only exist in kids' imaginations.
Trying to fit in crime fighting, archery, cheer practice, football games, and spending time with the boyfriend she wants to marry is just too much for any girl. But when her boyfriend invites her to a Halloween party, Cindy is sure that she can juggle the Pniese and the party.
At first, everything is routine, like finding a Cyclops' contact and stopping a goblin from eating a fairy, but then things turn sinister when a legendary demon clown comes to town. He wants to take his revenge out on the Pniese for imprisoning him all these years in their Poltergeist Prison. He's willing to do whatever it takes to get his revenge and pick up where he left off in 1870, including raising the dead he killed back then.
Will the Pniese find a way to fight the undead and win the biggest fight any of them have ever faced - or will Puchinello get his revenge?
THE CIR-CUSS COMES TO TOWN provides the perfect blend of reality and fantasy, horror and humor, for its readers. The characters are easy to relate to and fun to follow throughout the book. The plot is intense and filled with action. Those who like horror, fantasy, adventure, action, and supernatural books will have a hard time putting down this prequel to END OF THE LONG WALK. (less)

It's 1910 in the frozen land of the Arctic Circle. Sig has never known any other life. His father came here to get rich finding gold, but that never happened. Now, it is just Sig, his sister, Anna, and their step-mother, Nadya, because Sig's father is dead.
It happened as he returned from town. He foolishly cut across the lake on the dogsled. He always told Sig it was not the safest route, but for some reason he didn't heed his own advice.
When Sig discovered his father's frozen body, he was able to piece together what probably happened. The lower portion of his father's body fell through the ice, and using his remaining strength, he was able to pull himself from the frigid water. Scattered papers from his pack and jumbled stick matches were evidence that he had tried to start a fire in hopes of warming himself, but the sub-zero temperature worked faster than his ungloved hands could manage to generate heat.
With the help of Nadya and Anna, Sig brings the body back to their tiny cabin, and the two women head back to town for help. Sig waits uncomfortably with his father's remains until he hears a knock at the door. Instead of the help he anticipates, it is a huge man who identifies himself as Gunther Wolff, and he demands his share of the gold he says Sig's father owes him.
What follows is a day and night of terror for Sig, and soon his sister, as well. Sig learns secrets about his dead father's past and his connection to this frightening man. The siblings also discover that lessons learned in childhood do provide answers even in the toughest of situations.
Author Marcus Sedgwick tells an amazing story of survival in one of the most inhospitable environments on earth. He takes readers into a tiny, isolated cabin and keeps them on the edge of their seat until the last page. Adventure fans are sure to love this one. (less)

Gold Star Award Winner!
When I saw this book being offered for review, I knew I had to have it. I teach fifth grade, and have had a lot of problems with bullying in my classroom. Once I received CONFESSIONS OF A FORMER BULLY, I read it in one sitting (although it is really short, so that isn't hard). I then read it to my class.
Katie is a bully who gets called out on it by her principal and her parents. She has to face the consequences of her actions, and she decides to write this book to help others in the same situation.
The story is written in a simple way that elementary students can understand. It doesn't pull any punches, but states both how it feels to be bullied and to be the bully. It also gives definite ways to defuse a bully, which I believe that my students will avail themselves of.
This is an important book to be used by teachers, administrators, counselors, and parents. Bullying is destroying many children today, and we need as many tools as we can get. No one should ever be bullied, and everyone needs to know how to combat it. (less)

Every five years, Paige's Aunt Ella sends her a mysterious object on her birthday. So far, she's sent her a coin and a puzzle box. This year, for her 15th birthday, her present is another mysterious box and a letter in rhyme.
The next day at school, Paige meets Cameron, a boy whose family has passed the rhyme and an ancient coin and staff down for many generations. All he knows is that Paige's gifts and his objects are somehow connected.
When Paige and her best friend, along with Cameron, set out to research the mythology behind the objects, they discover a myth regarding an evil being named Balor who seeks three coins and a staff in order to fulfill an evil purpose. If he gains all four objects, the world is doomed. The prophecy, however, speaks of a group of three who will be able to wield them and defeat him.
As the three begin trying to solve Ella's riddle in order to stop Balor, scary things start happening around town. Cameron's house is broken into and his coin is stolen, people start getting attacked near the water, and a strange, rotting fish smell keeps appearing along with a dark shadow that keeps popping up wherever they go. Can the three friends find a way to get the coins, manipulate their powers, and defeat Balor?
COINS OF POWER is a fun, quick read, especially for reluctant readers. The characters are likable and well-developed, and the plot is complex and does a great job of holding the reader's interest. With the possibility of a sequel evident, those who like fantasy, adventure, and mystery will all enjoy reading this book - and will want to read more. (less)

Cassidy Jones is a typical, awkward 14-year-old. She lives in Seattle with her twin brother, Nate; her little brother, Chazz, who is in love with superheroes; her father, the handsome news reporter; and her mother. She hates any kind of sport (my kind of girl) and has a major crush on a boy.
One night, her father takes her along with him on an interview with a famous geneticist. While there, Cassidy falls and breathes in some chemicals. The next day, she discovers that she has super powers! But before she has time to decide what to do with these newfound abilities, she finds out that the geneticist has been kidnapped and that her son is now going to be living with them.
Emery, the geneticist's son, is a very brilliant and mysterious boy. He and Cassidy form first a friendship and then a team to solve the mystery of where his mother is and how to get her back. They have to deal with her control of her powers, some crooked policemen, middle school drama, and the realization that they are only 14 and 15 years old.
I truly enjoyed this book. I could identify with Cassidy from the time I met her - during gym class - to the time she lets her powers fly to get back at some of the elite at her school. She is very likable and a well-rounded character. Emery is not as easy to relate to as Cassidy but is definitely likable. You definitely want to root for them to succeed.
Cassidy becomes a scary ninja and it is fun to see how she is able to get out of dangerous situations. I was even impressed with the villain. He was comical but evil. I wouldn't want to meet up with him in a dark alley! I so hope that this will become a series. I was a Nancy Drew fan when I was in school, and Cassidy Jones is the 2011 version. So do yourself a favor and get a copy of this hot new book! (less)

Jason's job at the zoo was dull. Until a hippo swallowed him.
Instead of dying, he was transported to another world. A place known as Lyrian that is ruled by an evil wizard named Maldor. There's only one way to stop Maldor: speaking a word of power . . . but the word must be discovered one piece at a time.
Jason soon discovers a girl named Rachel was also drawn into Lyrian. Together, they set out on a dangerous quest to discover the word and destroy Maldor - unless he destroys them first.
I fell in love with Mull's writing in the FABLEHAVEN series and THE CANDY SHOP WARS, and this first book of the BEYONDERS didn't disappoint me. I found myself pulled into Mull's world just as easily as Jason and Rachel were pulled into Lyrian, but unlike the characters, I didn't want to leave. The plot twists and dangers had me holding my breath . . . especially Macroid.
WOW!! I can't wait for the next book in this fantastic new series. (less)

Toby, Annabel, and Strobe have been invited to New York City for a training session for promising workers of Killer Pizza at their headquarters. But KP is actually a front for an organization of monster hunters. The three co-workers have been invited to join the KP ranks.
As soon as they arrive, Harvey sends them out on a job. They're asked to bring in a dekayi monster who needs protection from her own kind. However, not much information about the dekayi exists. They're supposed to find a dekayi girl who looks human in Central Park and bring her to headquarters.
Things don't go according to plan. Someone doesn't want the dekayi girl to escape. They're hot on her trail. After a huge fight, the team finally escapes with the girl. They return to Hidden Hills and their normal lives.
Then Harvey calls with news that Calanthe only wants to talk with them. She's not ready to spill any secrets unless she's under their protection. Harvey comes up with a plausible story of a foreign exchange student, and Calanthe arrives to stay with Annabel.
The three not only have the job of protecting her, but also trying to acclimate her into the human world. Everything goes smoothly until they uncover that the dekayi will do anything to get Calanthe back.
THE SLICE picks up four months after KILLER PIZZA ends. I love the idea of a pizza joint being a front for fighting monsters! I love the names of the pizzas, and I love the banter between the three friends and the co-workers. THE SLICE includes lots of action, danger, and suspense. It's a winner! (less)

When loneliness get too much, Ben sneaks next door to the house he lived in with his mother and begins to look for something, anything to make him feel better.
When he finds a mysterious note that could possibly lead him to the father he's never known, he has to make the decision whether to follow his heart or stay where he is.
Rose, a young girl, feels lost and alone in a house with her stern father. With her mother out of the picture and her older brother living in New York, she is completely cut off from everyone. After one too many disagreements with her father, Rose decides to strike out on her own to New York City to find some peace of mind.
Both Ben and Rose find themselves at the American Museum of Natural History - only 50 years apart. Ben's story takes place in 1977 and Rose's story takes place in 1927. Ben's story is told in words, while Rose's story is told in pictures.

Being around Celia Graves is hard - heck, BEING Celia Graves is even harder.
Celia is getting used to being a half-vampire siren. As if that wasn’t enough, she has faced off against both a Siren Queen and a demon who wants her dead, and she’s done all of this while dealing with a heart that's been broken twice by the same man.
Just as we think Celia may get a little rest, she learns that an ancient rift between a demon dimension and our own begins to open. With all of the life-and-death struggles that she's going through, she is actually uniquely gifted to handle such a problem.
But she's still going to need help from friends - as well as from people she no longer trusts.
How many ways must I say how awesome this series is before everyone believes me? Suspense, drama, action, and even a little romance thrown in just to spice it up a bit. Very few authors come close to writing stories such as this. I’ve seen few movies that I actually enjoy as much as the BLOOD SINGER series.
Cat Adams is a joy to read each and every time. With these books and this author I know that my interest will be held and my expectations exceeded before even opening the cover. Definite Gold Star reading material! (less)

After reading this story, it is taking everything in me to not totally gush; it is that good. THE SIREN is the story of Kahlen, mostly, along with her sisters and the Ocean. A siren is a singer, a singer of the Ocean. In order to maintain herself, the Ocean must feed; sirens help her to do that.
Kahlen and her "sisters," Marilyn and Aisling, begin the story and you find out quite a lot of how sirens and their lives work. They are beautiful, they can live around regular humans, they can live semi-normal lives, but there's a catch - they cannot age, which means staying in one place for more than a few years isn't possible, and they cannot, under any circumstances, speak, laugh, scream, or make a sound outside of a sigh or breath around a human person.
There can be no more than four sirens at a time, and not everyone will choose to live the lives that these girls have agreed to. Their sentence is 100 years, after which the Ocean will return them and they will become normal again, and begin aging from whatever age they are frozen into (almost sounds like a dream come true at times). With only their "sisters" for company, it can become lonely, and for Kahlen that causes daydreams. That is, until one day while sitting on the beach she meets a man. He is beautiful, sad, lonely, in pain, and yet there is something about him that Kahlen can't let go.
The Ocean warns Kahlen that no matter what happens, those must stay daydreams and she cannot chance their secret by letting her fantasies run away with her. Kahlen decides she wants to make a difference and takes up sign language, which transforms into spending a few years at schools for the deaf teaching children, and later teenagers, that being deaf isn't always a bad thing.
Kahlen gets new "sisters," Miaka and Elizabeth, who help transform her into something better than she ever imagined she could be. Miaka is creative and she is also Kahlen's first "little sister," while Elizabeth is wild and crazy, and brings out the fun and slightly mischievous side of Kahlen. Aside from Aisling being withdrawn and bitter (think Mr. Scrooge), you don't know much about her for the most part, but she is a very important piece of Kahlen's puzzle.
Once this human, Akinli, enters Kahlen's world, nothing else seems to mean as much. Not even the secret that she is bound to keep, and with less than 20 years left on her sentence, will it all be destroyed because of this? Now Kahlen has found the one thing she has always wanted. Is the life she could have worth destroying the life she does have? Or can she have both?
More than anything, this is a story of love and hope. Whether that love be between sisters, family, lovers, strangers, or even love for yourself; it covers all the bases. Once I started, it was hard to stop, and I really didn't want this story to end. There were numerous parts where I actually found myself tearing up, and that never happens! Some of these situations made me want to become a siren, and then there would be a moment that broke my heart.
Kiera Cass may be a first-time author, but I pray this is not her only book. This is truly a beautiful story all the way through. I love the imagery; it is phenomenal and almost makes you feel like you're really there (and let me tell you, there were many times in the Ocean descriptions where the song Dark Blue by Jack's Mannequin got stuck in my head. Thanks Kiera!).
It's been a long time since I have seen a first-time author whose writing style is as beautiful as this, and she definitely has not only the talent to be a wonderful writer, but also the imagination to successfully tell a story that is not only entertaining, but also touching.
If there was one book that I would recommend this year so far, it would be THE SIREN. Just make sure you have time on your hands, because once you start you won't be able to stop until the very end. Even then, I flipped back and forth over the final pages, hoping that there would be more magically appear before my eyes. After all, this is a fantasy! (less)

Benny made it back from the Rot & Ruin only to start training with his brother, Tom, to leave again. After seeing the airplane fly over, Benny, Nix, Lilah, and Tom have been anxious to find out where it was going. Could there be civilization beyond the Rot & Ruin?
Every day, Tom trains Benny, Nix, Lilah, and Chong. He prepares them to fight the Zoms they are sure to encounter on their long trek across the dangerous country.
Everyone has different feelings about leaving home. Benny isn't sure he wants to leave FOREVER, but is willing to in order to be with Nix. Nix, who has nothing left, is desperate to leave behind all the bad memories. Lilah just wants to feel freedom and live outside the fences again. Tom decides he has to leave, since his countless pleas to the town leader's to build up defenses have fallen on deaf ears. Chong, without the permission of his parents, will be staying behind.
Tom plans an overnight trip to help the kids practice living beyond the fences. Chong is given permission to accompany his friends for this short adventure, which gives him more time to spend with Lilah.
The overnight outing doesn't go as planned though, and the kids are separated from each other and Tom. Evidence points to the possibility that Gameland is up and running again and, even worse, could Charlie Pink Eye still be alive?
DUST & DECAY is filled with danger and excitement, love and hatred. It keeps the reader engaged from the first page to the last. The horrors the characters live through are heartbreaking. This is a zombie book that will bring you to tears. (less)

Alex, a typical teenage boy, is left alone for the weekend because he refused to go away with his parents to his Uncle's farm. He quickly regrets his decision after the unthinkable happens. A volcano in Yellowstone National Park erupts, sending ash across the entire country. Forced to leave after the destruction of his home, Alex decides to try and make it to his family the only way he can - on foot. Taking only what he can carry, he sets out on a dangerous journey, hoping for the best.
Alex encounters many obstacles along the way - many extremely dangerous. When he can't go any further he is lucky enough to come across a farmhouse with people willing to help. Darla, a girl a couple of years older than he is, and her mother seem to be making it so far. Darla's mechanical abilities have allowed her to rig things up to help them stay fed.
But, after disaster strikes, Darla is left with no choice but to leave with Alex as he continues his journey toward his family. Will their food and water last? Can they stay away from the desperate people willing to do anything to survive? Will his family even be there when he gets to the farm?
ASHFALL is a true page-turner. The fact that a scenario like this could really happen makes you stop and think. How long could you make it on the food and water you have at home? Could you protect yourself from people willing to do anything to take what you have? Author Mike Mullin does a great job putting Alex in situations that I feel would be very likely to happen. He doesn't allow Alex to get through the story unscathed and I appreciated it. Realistically, what teen could make it hundreds of miles on foot through dangerous conditions without running into some MAJOR trouble?
I also enjoyed how the author handled the relationship between Alex and Darla. He created two intelligent, responsible characters, and it was a pleasure to take this journey with them. Something else I liked is that Darla is a strong and smart girl and Alex isn't intimidated by that at all. He realizes she is smarter than he is in many aspects of survival and allows her to lead the way when it is necessary.
I really can't wait for the sequel, ASHEN WINTER, which is set to come out in October 2012. (less)

Once she reaches the river, Abby discovers there's more at stake than just her future. Zo is undoing the river, and with it time and the world as Abby knew it. If she doesn't stop him, there won't be anything to go back to.
Abby travels into Dante's time in an attempt to close the time loop and save the river and the world, but Zo isn't about to let her stop him.
From THE HOURGLASS DOOR to THE GOLDEN SPIRAL, and now THE FORGOTTEN LOCKET, Mangum takes us on a thrilling jaunt through time. Though the characters in this installment have memory lapses, my memory of Mangum's characters and world have never faltered.
I can't recommend these books enough. The only bad part about this novel is the fact that it ended, and with it ends Abby and Dante's story. I'll miss not reading about them in future tales, but I'm comforted knowing I can pick up THE HOURGLASS DOOR and start the journey all over again . . . and close the time loop in my own way. (less)

The Palestinians are fighting for a land that was once theirs but that now the Jews claim belongs to them. Mia learns that the Jewish religion can be quite bloody and ignorant at times, and she starts to question whether she can be a part of this faith - or any faith at all.
Along this journey she meets Andrew, a handsome guitar player who seems to know more about Israel's politics than she does. So with the help of Andrew, she tries to figure out whether she can continue in this faith, and what she plans to do about the turmoil in Israel.
Lieberman writes a truly wonderful book about a girl trying to figure out who she is and what she stands for while also trying to come to grips with the Jewish religion and the politics in Israel. Not only is this book touching on a personal level, but it is educational, too. It really brings to light the politics and turmoil in Israel; it helps the reader better understand what is going on in such a faraway place.

1989 was not a good year for Beth Cardall. The novel starts out in the present day when Beth gazes at two necklaces she received way back when, but has never worn.
She always thought she had the good life. Though her husband traveled often for work, she thought he was loving and faithful. But when she was cleaning out his clothing pockets for a trip to the dry-cleaners (where she works), she found a note that hints that he has secrets. When she accuses Marc of infidelity, she's shocked to find out that it's true.
She kicks Marc out and then has to face an unexplained illness with her daughter. Young Charlotte is getting thinner and thinner and can hardly keep food down. Through countless doctor and hospital trips, she is still undiagnosed.
Marc returns to the picture, but this time terminally ill. He is diagnosed with cancer, and Beth is determined to make his final days comfortable. Soon, she's newly widowed, dealing with the mystery illness of Charlotte, and the looming possibility of losing her job and thus her house. It's on Christmas at the end of the year that she meets the mysterious Matthew.
The story moves forward from meeting Matthew and how he slowly works his way into her and Charlotte's lives. Matthew seems to come from somewhere else. He miraculously diagnoses Charlotte's illness. He slowly builds up Beth's trust in people again, and in the end, he reveals his true identity, much to Beth's total shock and disbelief. It's at this point that I went "WOW" and didn't see it coming.
It's not the holiday season without a Christmas story from Mr. Evans. I don't know how he does it, but each book I swear is better than the last. And this one really surprised me. I've never read one of his books where I didn't anticipate how it was going to end. But this one kept me guessing up until the final chapters. I loved it! It may have been a sad ending (in a way), but it was the right ending, and brought the story full circle, like it should.
Whether PROMISE ME is your first foray into Mr. Evans' work, or a continued tradition, it will leave you with that warm fuzzy feeling like his works always do. (less)

Many of us are familiar with Homer's timeless classic. Odysseus, hero of the Trojan War, is desperately trying to return home. The gods have not looked upon him favorably, and he has incurred the wrath of Poseidon. His adventures are housed in this new graphic novel edition.
He relates the tales of the Cyclops, the Sirens, and the deadly Scylla, who decimate his ship and crew. His journey is long, tireless, and wrought with sadness. Because of his persistence and loyalty to the gods, he is rewarded in the end.
Gareth Hinds has retold and illustrated many classic tales, including BEOWULF, KING LEAR, and THE MERCHANT OF VENICE. His artwork is nothing short of amazing. He has provided stunning watercolors to enhance the retelling of this epic poem. He has also made the poem much more accessible to teen readers.
Hinds has taken great pains to stay true to the original tale, including quotes that come directly from the text. This edition would be an excellent way of supplementing a unit about THE ODYSSEY. Teen readers who are curious about Greek mythology and literature should definitely give this graphic novel a chance. I am anxiously awaiting Hinds' next literary offering! (less)

Edith Wharton lived a privileged life. She was born into the Jones family - a wealthy family who were prominent members of New York society. From an early age, her mother knew Edith was different. Edith was shy, she admired the truth, she liked to make up stories, and she loved reading.
She spent her formative years touring Europe, which left a deep impression. Upon her return, she made her debut. In one summer she met two men. She developed a deep relationship with one, but he left at the end of the summer. The other man she befriended and then married. She fell out of favor with society, but that didn't stop her.
Edith wrote in the mornings. In the beginning, she had three poems printed in respected publications. One of the publishers was interested in more of her writing. After her short story appeared, she began work on several others that would be published into one volume. However, the idea of her stories in print threw her into a panic, and she began to work on non-fiction projects.
She traveled throughout Europe and met many bachelors who would become her dearest friends. Several of these men were writers. She would share her ideas and her writings with them. After publishing her first novel, one of these men, Henry James, wrote with advice for her next book.
Edith took his advice to heart and wrote a serialized tale published in a magazine that would later become THE HOUSE OF MIRTH. Her success was huge. She kept writing, which paid for her house to be built, her trips to Europe, and her lifestyle. Until she died, Edith wrote and behaved in the fashion she desired.
Connie Nordhielm Wooldridge writes a fascinating and engaging non-fiction book describing an amazing woman who dared to step outside the bounds of society and live life on her own terms. (less)

Why are girls so mean to each other? Are they jealous? Intimidated? See other girls as competition? Whatever the reason, malicious gossiping, social shunning, vicious taunting, and cyber-bullying will often occur.
So how do we break the cycle? Through this book, girls will learn some of the reasoning behind why girls can be so vicious - and what they can do to make it stop.
The author takes a very balanced approach with this book. She not only addresses the victims, but the mean girls, as well. Her white space, layout, and illustrations are excellent and well-used. The information she presents is well-researched and takes a common-sense approach to breaking the cycle of meanness, envy, and passive-aggressive behaviors.
With quotes from famous artists and athletes and an easy-to-understand text that gives adolescents hope, GIRLS AGAINST GIRLS is a must-have for any teenage girl and school or library collection. (less)

Jane's been kicked out of more boarding schools than she can count. She's come home to Bienville, Alabama, to live with her grandmother. Suddenly, everyone's talking about her. Hoping to fly under the radar, she's unhappy when her grandmother guilts her into participating in the local pageant. To Jane's horror, she actually makes the Court.
Now, she must complete a year of appearances, fund raising, and attending balls with her fellow Maids. For the first time ever, the Court displays the diversity of the town.
Jane can't help but make waves on the Court when her arch-nemesis, Ashley, starts putting girls down. Although she has no desire to participate in the events, when the pageant advisor asks her to step down, she's more determined than ever to becomes the perfect Magnolia Maid. She changes from Goth to Southern Belle in a heartbeat and reigns in her sarcasm.
I really loved this book. I loved Jane's snark and wit, and I loved how she takes control of the Magnolia Maids and changes the group dynamic. I love the group of girls who make up the Maids - they're so different!
While Jane presents a tough exterior, her family past left deep emotional wounds. She's determined, stubborn, and stands up for people and her beliefs. Most of the time, her heart's in the right place, even if the situation goes awry - which it does often. I LOVE the humor, the friendship, and the touch of romance. This one's a winner! (less)

Picture a world where a virus has rendered everyone over the age of 18 infertile. What are married couples supposed to do if they want children? That's right! Hire a surrogate.
In this world there are Professional Surrogates who enter into strict contracts with couples to provide them a baby. These surrogates are required to Bump in order to get pregnant - it's strictly business. The boy and girl will probably be total strangers and most likely never see each other again after the pregnancy test shows a positive result. These surrogates are chosen strictly for their genetic and physical traits.
Some girls are Amateur Surrogates - not quite good enough to make it Pro. They Bump with anyone they want and then hope to find a couple willing to purchase the offspring.
Melody and Harmony are identical twins who were separated at birth. At 16, they were able to look into their birth records and found each other.
Melody, a Pro Surrogate, was less than thrilled to find there was someone in the world exactly like her. It hurts her chances in business. Now, she can't be promoted by her agent as unique.
Harmony couldn't be happier to have found Melody. As someone who is neither Amateur nor Pro, she looks forward to preaching to Melody about God and hopefully prevent her from living a life of a sinning surrogate.
Megan McCafferty does an excellent job building this futuristic dystopian world. The word play alone is enjoyable. The media bombards these young tweens and teens with advertisements, clothing, and music encouraging drug use in order to help them relax. Condoms have been outlawed, and the term "baby" is considered a nasty word because it encourages affection for the Bump.
Harmony and Melody's lives are turned upside-down after a case of mistaken identity leads them both down paths they never imagined.
When you get to the last page of BUMPED, you'll definitely ask yourself, "How long do I have to wait for the sequel?" (less)

Hudson Jones loves music - soulful music that makes you think. She's not interested in the bubble-gum pop music her mother's famous for singing.
She now has the opportunity to become a major musical star. She's recorded her tracks. But when her mom heard them, she changed them. Now, they don't represent Hudson's style, and the songs are so similar to her mom's that Hudson knows they aren't for her.
The first chance she has to perform in front on an audience, she runs off the stage. Her mother covers her absence with a fake food poisoning story. Hudson knows that she has to take control of her musical career and sing the way she wants to sing.
But how can she stand up to her mom?
THE DAUGHTERS TAKE THE STAGE, the third book in the series, takes Hudson's perspective in the tale of three daughters trying to make their own way in life outside of their famous parents' shadows. Hudson learns to take control over her life, even if it means making huge mistakes along the way. Luckily, she has the support of her two best girlfriends. Their friendship is still rock solid. The drama, friendship, romance, and themes of finding yourself continue in this great, addicting series. (less)

Bryn loves her new life with her pack - until a wolf enters her territory. He's badly hurt and he's asking for protection. With Shay as his Alpha, he's been used as a punching bag, until Shay gave him to a group of psychics. Bryn doesn't know what to do. She doesn't want to turn him away, but neither can she help him within the rules of the werewolves. She desperately tries to find a loophole in the rules.
Before she can figure out a solution, the psychics show up in town. A new girl starts at school, and Bryn knows she's a threat. Caroline isn't normal, she's a hunter. She can't be tracked and she never misses a target. She has the ability to take out Bryn's entire pack.
The psychics hate werewolves. Each time Bryn meets them, she learns more about them. With the psychics and Shay looking for a fight, Bryn needs to watch her back very carefully. She knows what's at stake, and she's not about to give in or give up her pack for anything.
I couldn't wait to read this book as I *loved* RAISED BY WOLVES! TRIAL BY FIRE was simply amazing. I loved the power of Bryn, and how her pack's different and how she as a human is different from the other Alphas. I love how she tries to see the loopholes in dangerous situations. I love how she doesn't ever want to play by the rules, and her sense of justice. Mostly, there isn't anything I don't love about Bryn. I love Lake, Chase, and Dev, too.
With this one, I laughed, I cried, and I had to re-read the ending twice to understand it. The ending absolutely blew me away - I’m already looking forward to the third book in the series! (less)

Kate receives an email from her dead best friend, Grace, and her whole world changes. Grace couldn't really be emailing her from beyond the grave...could she?
Either way, it turns out Kate was RIGHT about Grace's death. It wasn't an accident, and Grace's boyfriend might know more then he's letting on.
Kate recovers Grace's pearls for luck and starts digging up the past. The more clues she uncovers, the more emails Grace sends her, and the more dangerous her life becomes. With all the rumors flying around, it's hard to know who to trust.
Does Kate have anyone watching her back? Could it be her nerdy neighbor who has a conspiracy obsession and a major crush on her? Could it be a boy with a dangerous past but a wicked smile?
Will Kate solve the mystery of Pemberley Brown's past and find out what really happened the night of Grace's death?
I seriously loved this debut novel for the mystery, the romance, the friendships, the sense of danger, and the many layers. The book alternates between the present mystery to the days directly following Grace's death. I loved quirky, nerdy Seth, and Dylan, who's the edgy bad boy. I loved how these three fit together to form an unlikely friendship. (less)
