I love that it is historical Christian fiction, which really brings to life the struggles the early Christians faced. The characters are so vibrant and the story compelling. If you are looking for an inspiring novel, this is it. I would read The Master's Wall first (it is a series) but the book does stand alone too. (less)

I found it hard to put down. I look forward to book club to discuss it. (less)

I loved the struggle that Amelia goes through, following her dreams of career success or follow her husbands career move. Then the interesting twist that adds more challenges to both her and her husband. The book also reminded me how important communication is in a marriage. If you don't communicate, you can't fix problems, they just grow and grow. (less)

It ends with a possibility of a next book and I hope there is! :) It is a great book for a young adult. (less)

I love how Micky gives really useful and easy to apply tools to help MPB's deal with stress and help prevent burnout. I admit there are times in my "career" where I have felt burnt out, where I want to throw in the towel and just walk away. But I feel called to this "job" and I love it in so many ways.
I have worked hard to find a balance that worked. Micky's book has given me more ideas to reduce my stress. I am sure as I apply them, I will be able to enjoy my work even more.
The book is easy to read and has so many easy to apply ideas, that you will find quite a few to use in your life!(less)

It was not quite what I expected, but I enjoyed it. It is memoirs with bits and pieces of yoga. I guess maybe I wanted a bit more yoga in the book.
I could relate to Claire in many ways, her traumatic first birth that left her longing for more, which led her to yoga. How yoga helped her find things in herself she didn't know was there.
Good read for yoga lovers or even those who don't know about or love yoga. Maybe it will intrigue you to learn more! (less)

I read about half and then had 2 days I couldn't read and I kept thinking about the characters. Today I got to finish it. The ending made me really glad I am reading it for book club so we can talk about it! It made me want to read it again... so I may have to pick it as one of my other book club choices.
Trigger warning - it does reference sexual abuse. (less)

I loved how each chapter started with the obligatory Thank You Note , it took me a few chapters to figure out it had clues to what was about to happen.
I easily connected with the characters. They really come to life the way Melanie writes them.
The only downside was I had company in town, so it took me almost a week to finish from when I started. If I didn't have company I probably would have easily finished it in a day or two, because I really wanted to see how it all worked out!
I would say if you are looking for fun books to read, Melanie's books are great. I love how her female characters are strong, but normal too. (Not superhuman, just normal girls, with normal problems, but they really stand strong in who they are!) (less)

My friend who lost her 4 year old son reads a lot of books about loss. She lent this to me. It is heartbreaking because it brings you face to face with 2 families who lose a daughter, though really only 1 loses a daughter.
Even more amazing it is a true story and the faith of these families is truly inspirational. It helped me to better understand my friends loss. I admire her for her faith as she moves forward through her grief.
I enjoyed reading this book and stayed up late tonight to finish it in one day! (less)

I would love to read it for book club, though I would have to choose which book club wisely. As my friend Kimberly said in her review, "Not recommended for those of you who can't keep your skepticism at bay. You know who you are. ;)"

It is a story which helps you to understand that change starts with noticing when you feel insignificant. If you can be aware of that, then you can choose how you want to respond, instead of automatically responding like we normally do.
I have been working on applying this in my life the last few weeks and it it amazing to see how that little change can make such a huge difference! (less)
