I jumped in this book and it immediately grabbed my intention. It was well written, the characters were very well portrayed and I instantly fell in love with Drake and Simone. Even Beck! I loved Beck! I loved him so much that I wish there would have been a little more of him in the book! The plotline was phenomenal. The whole curse/voodoo/romance was very unique in my opinion and it was completely different than anything I have read before. To say the least, I was a bit out of my comfort zone! But I enjoyed it. Very much. I really was captivated by the story itself.
I do have a few reservations. Sex scenes. Gosh... A little too much. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against sex scenes. Not at all. I knew there would be some when I decided to read the book. But seriously?! It got hold very fast. It went on, and on, and on... I ended up skipping some parts entirely, to be honest. I think that once the author would jump in a sex scene, it completely killed the vibe of the book... Which is very sad, because she had a GREAT story going on for her. While the author really knew how to write good sex scenes, it was a little too much for me. It didn't really have to be that long.
On another note, Drake and Simone's relationship grew way too strong and way too fast for my taste. I find myself writing that in a lot of book reviews... It seems like all love stories out there grow WAY too fast. Completely unrealistic... I know, I know, this is paranormal books. But still. I like a good love story. Where they learn to know eachother, where they grow together and build their relationship slowly, but surely. Maybe that's just me.
All in all, I enjoyed the story very much, with a few reservations that I have explained already... Sex scenes aside, this book was an absolute pleasure to read! I really don't want to write more about the story, I hate writing spoilers, so I won't say much more. If you do decide to read this book, you are in for a ride! =)...more

I'm very thankful for the opportunity! This book was provided to me by the author and the group Lovers of Paranormal in exchange of an honest review. I'm very thankful for the opportunity! =)
Where to start... Well, let's just say that this book had lots of potential of being totally awesome. The author's imagination was amazing, the ideas were there & the plot line was fabulous. I really liked Veronika, the main character. She is a strong, dedicated and confident female. It's kind of refreshing to see such a strong female character that shows amazing leadership! The book was beautifully written, no doubts there.
Now, after reading these 5 first lines, you must be wondering, why the heck do you give it just 3 stars then?! Everything seems perfect, what's your problem?? Well, to be 100% honest, I was a bit bored, to say the least. Literally, the first half of the book, dialogues are almost non-existent. It's long... Very long. Too much detailing, specifically about Philadelphia. I'm not quite sure I understand the need in giving us every single details of what streets she is getting to, where exactly the Police Station is located, or naming every single hospital in the city. It was long. And I got bored. The 2nd half of the book was better, but in my humble opinion, it was too little too late. I wasn't captivated enough to really enjoy it to its full potential.
It's too bad, because I was really prepared to like this book, for all the reasons given in top part of my review. Which is why I gave it a 3 stars rating. But if I stay true to myself, I don't think I can say that I really enjoyed it much, sadly.
If you're into ghost and/or murder stories, I'm sure you'll enjoy this book. If you are from Philadelphia, or you've visited, you might be able to relate to the book more than I did... Who knows! ;)...more
Alright, first I'd like to say that this book was provided to me from Lovers of Paranormal group, in exchange of an honest review. I'd like to take thAlright, first I'd like to say that this book was provided to me from Lovers of Paranormal group, in exchange of an honest review. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the author for her generosity and putting herself out there with her book. Now, onto the actual review.
First, I have to admit, I didn't even have to think when I signed up for this book. All one gotta say is VAMPIRE and I'm in. So I was pretty excited to get this book started. However, my excitment died pretty quickly. Now, the storyline was very good, and I was very curious and intrigued by her characters. I think the author had a good plot in mind. However, I think she was putting too much effort in keeping it all very mysterious (at least, that's how I felt it!). And I kinda gave up.
I thought the writing was ok, but it was missing something to really grab my attention. I wasn't intrigued enough to keep reading, and I am ashamed to say that I had to gave up. There is too many books and too little time for me to keep reading a book that I am not interested in. I feel horrible for saying that, but I gotta stay honest with myself.
Now, I'm not saying it's a bad book... It just wasn't for me. There were other people in the group who enjoyed it, so go ahead and read the synopsis, perhaps it'll be a good one for you! ...more

I. COMPLETELY. LOVED. THIS. BOOK. And I'm not saying this just to be nice. I appreciate the author's generosity to give away copies of her book. But I am completely honest in my review here. I really really REALLY did love this book. I read it so fast. 2 days and I was done. And with my life being an epic mess right now, and spending way too much time in front of the Olympics... 2 days is SUPER fast for me. I guess I'll stop rambling now and get into my actual review! :P
First off, I'd like to say that this story was BEAUTIFULLY written. Suzannah's writing skills really impressed me. The words she chose, the way she built her story, everything was just stunningly written. However, one of the only negative thing I have to say about this book is that it's a little bit slow at the beginning. It took me a while to get into the actual story. I kept going, because my curiosity got the best of me. And I wasn't really bothered that it was slow-paced, because the writing was just so beautiful.
But oh my. I was in for a ride. I never expected what happened in this book. I was pleasantly surprised at how things turned out and really was mesmerized by the story. I'm trying to be careful with the words I choose, because I really don't want to give away too much, but I truly loved how this book became a bit historical. I actually loved learning a little more about the Civil War. I really liked that the author incorporated some real events into this fiction book. It just made it that more interesting to me.
As for Mia and Benjamin's relationship, I was pretty satisfied with how it went all down. I must say, I HATE when the relationships in books are being thrown at us, I hate how things always seem to be going so fast, I hate how every couples out there think they are 'soul mate' after 2 days of dating. I hate how things are always being rushed in PNR books. I hate it because this is NOT how it's suppose to be. I like seeing the relationship GROW in front of my eyes, like any relationship grows in real life. And this is what I got with Ghostly Encounter. Their relationship grew slowly. Deeply, but slowly. It wasn't lovey-dover the entire way through, and I appreciated that. A lot. So kuddos to you Suzannah, this was a BIG plus for me! =)
Actual rating of the book: 4.5*
Now, can someone please tell me when book #2 will be out?!...more
This is my first ever werewolf book. And gosh, it did NOT disappoint! Where to start... This book was FANTABULOUS. That's right. I said it. FantabulouThis is my first ever werewolf book. And gosh, it did NOT disappoint! Where to start... This book was FANTABULOUS. That's right. I said it. Fantabulous. I fell in love with Loftis's story and her characters. Jacque, Fane, Sally, Jen... Even the 'less' important characters were all so interesting! It was full of humor, I found myself laughing out loud a couple of times. I had a smile on my face almost the entire way through this book. It was just so damn GOOD. Perfection, really.
It's hard for me to stay constructive here, because I just loved it so much and I don't really have any negatives to point out. I really enjoyed my experience the entire way through. I would have read this book in one sitting, if I hadn't started reading it a 2AM. I sadly needed to sleep at one point! This story captivated me from start to finish. There is not a singular thing that I would change about this book. And I hate to say that, because I really don't think a book can be perfect. There can always be improvement.
So what to improve in this book?! I'm not even quite sure there is anything to be improved. I mean, the writing was pretty simple. But then again, it is a YA book. I liked how she kept the dialogues so interesting. She wrote as the characters would speak the entire way through, without taking it over the top like other YA books(ie House of Night, which the writing and language was horrific...). It was still beautifully written and the author managed to keep it CLEAN. Yet, it was still believable and people can still relate to the way they spoke. And I loved how she incorporated some Romanian phrases in there, it made it just that more believable and added to Fane's charm (like he hadn't enough charm already!).
All in all, I can EASILY say that this book is going on my Favorites shelf. I loved this and it totally deserves the 5* I give it. I really am looking forward to reading the rest of the series! =)...more

I have read quite a few reviews about it, and like most others, it took me a little bit of time to get adjusted to the author's writing style. But it didn't took me long to realize that the writing style was what made this book so special for me. I was unique. Different. Mesmerizing. Simply beautiful. The author made a wonderful job at keeping the mystery around. She wouldn't give too much details at first and that seems to keep building up the interest I had for this book.
The story is absolutely fantastic. Expect the unexpected was the first thing that came to my mind once I finished reading. There are a lot of twists and the author brought her readers somewhere that was completely unexpected. I'm really being careful with the words I am using in this review, because I really don't want to spoil the book and its surprises to anyone.
I really liked Juliette and Adam. I felt that their connection was deeper than what the eyes could see. However, to me, it is unlikely that a relationship can grow as rapidly as theirs did. It threw me off and it's possibly the only thing I'd change about this story. I would have liked for their relationship to grow much slower. To let every emotions sink in before advancing to the 'next step'. But all in all, I still love these two together.
I thought Warner and Castle are also very interesting characters. I can't wait to find out how this story is going to be built around them. I'm sure we haven't seen half of what these two will bring to the series.
I'm really looking forward to the sequel. I think this book is very close of being perfect and I can easily say that it completely deserves the 5* I am giving it! =)...more
