I round it up because I just love the series. This book wasn't as compelling as the first. I think it was a good transition book, and I really loved it, but I much prefer the first book. I thought the beginning was kinda slow, which I am fine with, again... Transition book! After the ending and all the chaos from the last book, it was definitely appropriate to slow down and re-organize the characters, the story, and well introduce new characters!!! I love new characters!! And you kinda need them, because what I have learn from reading the first two books is that anyone, and I mean absolutely ANYONE, can die at anytime. The author has no shame in killing anyone, without a single sign or warning ahead. It's quite brutal. And I love it!! I love the development, and I am very excited to read what's coming next. The very final chapter makes me very hopeful... I was oh so hoping that the-final-chapter-alliance would eventually come up. And it DID. And I hope it WORKS!!! I can already tell the next book is going to be epic!!! One criticism I have for this book is that I feel the Sanctuary is way underdevelop. The Watchers have a more important part in this book, and I don't feel quite connected to them. I don't really understand their purpose, nor their goals, and we don't know these characters a lot, there is so many of them that it confuses me and leaves me quite careless about them and the plot surrounding them. Anyway!! On to book #3!!...more

I was completely drawn it from the first, to the last word of this book. It was unputdownable, if that's even a word! I have zero criticism. It was absolute perfection. I was a bit worried at first with the cast of characters, but smart smart idea to have each chapter indicating which kingdom we were in. I wasn't lost or confused one bit. LOVED the world development, the author was fantastic at creating vivid imagery in my mind. And I loved most characters. Magnus is such an enigma, absolutely adore him. I also really liked Lucia and Jonas. I didn't care for Cleo much at first but man, she grew a backbone by the end of the book, she evolved brilliantly and can't wait to see how she keeps growing as the series progress. The side characters were brilliant too, Theon, Sabine, King of Blood... Great plot and... OMG you are still reading this?!?! What the hell, get out of here and go start this book!!! =)...more

The one and only reason I picked it up was because I saw the movie trailer and decided I wanted to see the movie, therefore I had to read the book first. I had heard and read tons of positive reviews about it but never thought it'd be a book for me. Oh man was I wrong!! This book grabbed me within the first page. I knew I would love it. Yancey's writing was powerful, beautiful, sincere. The images were vivids in my mind; I literally was watching a movie in my head. And the quotes in that book?!?! They went straight to my heart. "Sometimes, in my tent late at night, I think I can hear the stars scraping against the sky." Anyway, new favorite!!! Need to pick up the sequel now!!...more

I can not even start describing how much this book touched me. It stole my heart and ripped it away from my chest, tore it apart, sent it back in its socket after it glued back all its pieces together. The story of Amir and Hassan was just... Heartbreaking. I felt for Hassan, poor little outcast boy with a heart made of gold, wanting to please and to be loved. His unconditional love and admiration for Amir, his best and only friend, was absolutely beautiful. I hated Amir for everything that he was and everything that he did to his poor little Hazara friend. How could one be so cruel?! But then I remember, Amir was just a little boy, too. As the story moved on, I felt for Amir. I could see how he struggled with his past for the rest of his life- he never truly forgave himself... And he seeked redemption with Sohrab. He wanted to make it right. The Kite Runner is a beautiful tale of love, redemption, courage, forgiveness, family, tenacity, acceptance and friendship. A must read for any book lovers. This story made me angry, disgusted, sad, hopeful, happy... A rollercoaster of emotions. I could not put this book down, and when I had to, the only thing I could think about was to pick it back up and find out what was happening next. I flew through it, it took over my life for a short period of time and it will probably stay with me forever....more

This beautifully written story will bring you on quite the journey. A journey of betrayal and deception. A power seeking journey. You will ask yourself who to trust and try to figure out who's the villain the entire way through. I was hooked and pulled into this novel after the first 5 sentences. It's pretty close to perfection if I'm being 100% honest... Wow.
In the end, everything makes total sense. Every questions you might have are answered. And it's twisted. Oh so freakin' twisted. And I absolutely ADORE IT. My only regret is that I read it too soon... I rarely start reading a series before all the books are out. Because I'm one of the least patient person I know. I want to read book #2 NOW. Someone send me a manuscript!!

Begin with a proper sentence. This book was just perfection. Yeah, the beginning was quite slow. I didn't quite understand the Scribe nor Grigori stuff. I had no clue where this was going. But it was brilliant. A perfect way to get this story going. It built up and up and up and then. BOOM. That ending. Left me speechless. Angry. Sad. Excited. Everything that I am looking for in a book all packed in this little piece of work. I can not WAIT to get my hands on book #2. As a matter of fact, I'm going to buy it as soon as am I done writing this.
It was also my first book from this author. And I'm going to hunt down her work. I need more. It was beautifully written. Incredibly sexy, in the most sensual way. She brought me back to Istanbul, bringing back to life the memories I have of this beautiful and enchanting city. Thank you Elizabeth....more

I have read quite a few reviews about it, and like most others, it took me a little bit of time to get adjusted to the author's writing style. But it didn't took me long to realize that the writing style was what made this book so special for me. I was unique. Different. Mesmerizing. Simply beautiful. The author made a wonderful job at keeping the mystery around. She wouldn't give too much details at first and that seems to keep building up the interest I had for this book.
The story is absolutely fantastic. Expect the unexpected was the first thing that came to my mind once I finished reading. There are a lot of twists and the author brought her readers somewhere that was completely unexpected. I'm really being careful with the words I am using in this review, because I really don't want to spoil the book and its surprises to anyone.
I really liked Juliette and Adam. I felt that their connection was deeper than what the eyes could see. However, to me, it is unlikely that a relationship can grow as rapidly as theirs did. It threw me off and it's possibly the only thing I'd change about this story. I would have liked for their relationship to grow much slower. To let every emotions sink in before advancing to the 'next step'. But all in all, I still love these two together.
I thought Warner and Castle are also very interesting characters. I can't wait to find out how this story is going to be built around them. I'm sure we haven't seen half of what these two will bring to the series.
I'm really looking forward to the sequel. I think this book is very close of being perfect and I can easily say that it completely deserves the 5* I am giving it! =)...more

I am re-reading the Twilight series after 6 or 7 years and was dreading the 2nd book. I didn't like it much the first time around. I don't know if it's because I am more mature and not totally obsessed over Edward as I used to be, but this book was absolutely fantastic. I have a much better understanding of Jacob, but I also have a much better understanding of the distress of anxiety and depression, something I struggle with myself. You can hate as much as you want over Meyer's writing/story, I personally think this book accomplish what it was meant to accomplish. At least to me....more
