She gets married to a British professor named Quin to escape the country. Their plan is to annul the marriage on the basis of non-consummation (not having a wedding night). When they reach England, they start to annul their marriage. Unfortunately, their plans don't work out quite the way they expect them to.
I absolutely loved this book! It was historical fiction, and also a romance novel. My favorite part was whenever someone did better than Ruth, she became determined to do better. I really like this book, and would read it again if I had the time....more

She and her friends Bess and George take a train to Shadow Ranch in Arizona. There, they meet a strange little old man, an mean old lady, and a cute little girl named Lucy. Nancy has a weird feeling about Lucy, and sets out to find out more about her. Nancy and her friends get lost in the mountains, attacked by wild animals, and in the end solve the mystery.
I liked the book, but I found it a bit slow for my taste. I didn't realize what the mystery was until about half way through the book. I like the story because the girls got to horse back riding, and there was a happy ending. The book was written shortly before the Great Depression, and it had a little slang. The book had very little action, and is best for those readers that enjoy reading a mystery story that isn't an action packed thriller....more

I'm still about half way through, but it's basically a romance. Lauren is leading a great life, when she gets in a really bad car accident - her car didn't have seatbelts because it was too old - and she dies, but the doctor in the abulence won't let her die. So when her heart and lungs start to function again on their own, she's put on a feeding tube, and she goes into a deep coma. Arthur moves into the aprtment, and he finds Lauren huddled in his closet. When she realizes he can see and hear her, she is estatic, and tells him her story. She tells him that her body is across town, comatose in a hospital. No-one can see her because she's not "real", she's like a ghost, but not dead. At first, Arthur thinks she's crazy, and then he begins to believe her. Once, he believes her, he sets about trying to reunite her with her body, and falls in love with her without meaning to.
This book was absolutely AMAZING! I'm not normally the type for a sappy romance, but it was more of an adventure, because at one point, Arthur breaks the law to try and save her, because by that time in the book, it's pretty obvious that they're in love. This book teaches quite a few life lessons, and is deep in some areas. I absolutely loved, it, and couldn't put it down... except when I was listening to teacher. :)...more

This book really changes the way you see the world. It makes you stop to think about how your actions affect other people. It is about a girl named Hannah Baker, who committed suicide. Before she took her life, she made a set of tapes, to inform the people that she thought were most responsible for her death about why she did it. I was unable to put this book down... even in class, but I thouroughly enjoyed it. Thirteen Reasons Why really makes you step back and consider your actions from another's point of view, like, you think "I hope I didn't push them to anything drastic." This book deserves 6 out of 5 stars, it was so good!...more

The whole premise of this book was that God had descended to Earth in as mortal woman, and was killed. Once the news gets out to the public, the world goes to hell, as it were. The story follows a few different characters, and shows why the world needs something for the general population to believe in.
This book taught me that no matter your own personal beliefs, the world needs hope. Without that hope, life is meaningless. Without that hope, people turn to other things, like violence and crime, instead of more meaningful things....more
