It was the best of times, it was, I am still having a good time.
Ek het gou afgeleer om Guinness te drink - miskien weer eendag in die toekoms - as Andrew kom kuier.
And they don’t know what a semi sweet white wine is - will bring you a Rosé.
Then, they even have chips with Chinese. Beautiful fantastic Chinese place that we have been to - twice - and you can have “curry-chips” with your Chinese. Also went to Letterkenny to go and have curry chips at the 4 Lanterns. Ended up with two large portions of garlic chips! All Ronald and Aria’s fault!!
Did I / Do I experience teething problems?
A few, but too few to mention. Must be a song in there somewhere…
Will I encourage / suggest it to others?
Beslis / definitely.
Will I take responsibility for anybody making the move?
Put anybody up?
For a couple of days and then they go! I am selfish like the rest of the people here. Things work as they are so don’t fix it.
And the couple is the English couple – two! People that love ironing may get a stay…
It depends on what one wants. It did cost me a lot of money and I don’t think I will ever recoup that, but I knew that from before I got onto the plane. And I never had that much to lose anyway. I am still stuck with the house and car in JHB.
I have gained a lot - more time. More time and more free-dom. It is a relieve to be able to walk, drive, do your own thing, park anywhere and get wet. Not to worry about interest rates going up, the price of petrol, the Rand going down. The Rand does not even feature in news reports. Driving the latest car, getting to work on time. Traffic not giving way, not stopping at traffic lights or crossings. That your place may get burgled while you are out. I am staring to sound like a real, real what, asshole?
What do I miss the most?
The children (I have to say that) and Spur, the Bulls losing and proper meat but I guess I will still find a butcher that may be able to solve this little problem and I may just one day get SKY and be able to watch SA rugby.
O ja, and the Sunday papers - the gloom & doom and the back page.
Maybe the sun but not yet. Afrikaans, but I am teaching them a few words. Less wet clothes in the apartment, but I am getting the hang of that.
Johann has left the country.
