Andrew Dawn, "et quid amabo nisi quod aenigma est" means "and what shall I love if not the enigma." It's the title of a George Chirico self portrait from 1911. It's the 7th paiting down on this page:

Maggie Thank you all - I am honored. The poem, an ekphrastic, was based on the de Chirico painting "Melancholy and Mystery of a Street."
