NB: The suggestion for the Introduction to the Devout Life is only for Part I of that book!

Carlos Torres I'm going to have to think about this a bit. These all look like wonderful books. Choosing between them will be difficult.

If I can influence you, I'd have a big preference for a slightly older book ;)

Carlos Torres LOL. Before feeling the pressure of your influence, I chose Self Abandonment to Divine Providence.

Carlos Torres Because my life isn't confusing enough, are Self Abandonment to Divine Providence and Abandonment to Divine Providence the same book???

message 7: by Carina (new)

Carina Carlos, I was wondering the same thing because Self-Abandonment to Divine Providence is not on the kindle while Abandonment to Divine Providence is on the Kindle for under $3.

I'm willing to read good old fashion paper BUT would need to know the chosen book well in advance so I can order it INTERNATIONAL from Amazon (thus 2-3 weeks notice please).

Carina - that's why I've opened the poll only until Sunday. After then we'll have two and a half weeks (cookie for anyone who knows how I chose the date ;)) to get our copies and get the schedule sorted out :)

Fr. Kyle I believe they are the same thing. I do some research since I recommended the book.

Fr. Kyle The one with "self" seems to be unique to the TAN published copy. I have a nook version that I found for free if anyone has a Nook, and it's titled Abandonment to Divine Providence.

It might have to do with what the edition is.

The two book that Carlos linked have different translators, and I'm not sure which one, in English, is better, or if they're ordered the same. These two that are linked have about 150 pgs, and don't seem to include his letters about the same topic. The translation I have can be found here:
there's a link for a pdf

I think it would be good for us to have the same edition, minus Anja if she can find it in Dutch.

I'm not sure if that helps at all. :(

Carlos Torres Thanks Kyle. Both of the books I linked are TAN, but the "Self..." one is the older edition and I think it's out of print (though still in stock at some book sellers). The other one seems to be TAN's new edition. If this book wins out, then I agree that we should agree on an edition to use.

Carina Thanks Kyle. The edition I found for the Kindle is also called Abandonment to Divine Providence for $3.
