Ty Tolkien destroys Rowling hands down

message 53: by Amarice (new)

Amarice Too many options.
There are some authors I really want to read, so about half or more of the list is not-votable for me.
Authors I've read
JK Rowling -no
Philippa Gregory -no
Ken Follett
L.M Alcott -no
Roald Dahl
Suzanne Collins -no
Jodi Picoult -no
L.M Montgomery -no
John Green
JRR Tolkein -no
Charlotte Bronte
C.S Lewis -no
Sarah Dessen -no
Rick Riordan -no
Ally Condie -no
Eoin Colfer -no
Douglas Adams -no
Meg Cabot -no
Charles Dickens -no
Ann Brashers -no
Dan Brown -no
...

So we got out options down to
Ken Follett
Roald Dahl
Charlotte Bronte
John Green

And I srsly have no idea!!!J
I guess I like KF's stories, Green's writing, Bronte's atmosphere and Roald Dahl is a symbol of my childhood.
So John Green.oR k.f.

I picked (phew, finally): Ken Follett.

Alshia Moyez Dustin Crazy little brown owl wrote: "Katy wrote: "Dean Koontz is on the list? Seems can't click on to vote for him."

He's currently got 4 votes - you should be able to vote since others have been able to :-)"

A commentor just said (well, last year I guess) that they voted for Chuck Palahniuk (sp?) and I didn't see him on the list either. I think it's because there are SO MANY NAMES on here (half of which seem like JK Rowling repeated over and over again).

Karasu Poll was too long. And I don't really have a favorite author. If I'm drawn into the book, then it doesn't really matter to me.

Varsos 1. Scroll through the entire list to find the author
2. Press "view poll"
3. See number 1...LoL

message 61: by Pamela (new)

Pamela the poll is fairly well useless as is... it needed to be limited to a set list, OR limited to a single author name. Now the vote is 'diluted' by all the 'group' vote options.

asdfghjkl that's a LOT of people.....but yes, I can't choose just ONE!

message 65: by Bernard (new)

Bernard Broono I don't know how anybody could have any *one* favorite writer. At this moment I'm big on Steampunk fiction so I'm loving Cherie Priest and can hardly wait for 'Fiddlehead'. At the same time I am constantly surfing for new historical research and waiting on various historians to publish their work - particularly on the late Victorian period. So I could suddenly become hot on some obscure historian somewhere. At the same time my emotional state might be such that I need some less depthy sort of reading and all I'm interested in is the tawdry imagination of a writer who is articulate enough to artfully voice their perversity. It all depends on my mood.

Saru (Queen of Bookland) CASSANDRA CLARE! :D

message 67: by ☺Trish (last edited Jun 25, 2013 12:00PM) (new)

☺Trish I have so many, many favorite authors (most are mentioned on the poll above)! If told I could read only one author for the rest of my natural life, it would have to be NEIL GAIMAN. His books are the kind that can be read over and over and over . . . and whether for the fifth, fifteenth, or fiftieth time they're just as good (or maybe even better) than the first time - they have such variety and depth!

message 68: by Cristina (new)

Cristina Haruki Murakami ♥ Plain in love with every. signle. thing that comes out of his mind onto writing. He's just plain amazing and epic.

message 69: by Jax (new)

message 76: by Annam (new)

Annam How do people expect other people to choose a fav author from a list that states too many good ones?

message 77: by Marla (new)

Marla Why do people insist on writing in their answer when the author has already been mentioned? I understand to a certain extent if you add together multiple authors, as many did, but even that was a bit much. It's been my experience that, if pressed, a person should be able to name one author as a favorite. It may change, but in that moment, one author can easily be named. If you can't decide, click the "I can't decide" button! There's a reason it's there!

message 78: by Jane Peskara / (new)

Jane Peskara / Audrey Valentine i think i will start a new poll and it will be about the favorite authors but not with so many duplicate answers LOL :)
