Chad Would White Wolf's Son be difficult for new Elric readers? Isn't at the end of the series?

Eric I didn't vote for it for that reason. I don't like jumping into the middle of something.

Geoffrey Mod
I never read any of the Elric novels. Do they need to be read in order or are they more like early Discworld?

Chad The early books were freebies about 6 months ago....did you happen to grab that?

Charles Most of the "Eternal Champion" (of which Elric is just one incarnation) books are pretty much stand-alone, as the stories are largely episodic. The original 5 (or 6?) Elric books should probably read pretty much in order, especially being sure to end with "Stormbringer", but each of the subsequent books I've read have been stand-alone. Of course, part of this is that time and sequence in the Multi-verse doesn't mean a whole lot, such as the fact that the first time Elric meets Corum is the second time Corum meets Elric, and vice versa. :)

Anyway, I've already bought this book and will be reading it soon regardless of this vote. :)

Chad The description seems to point to it as a direct sequel to "Dreamthief's Daughter" so I may try to sneak that one in first. :)

Not at $16.99! ;)

Chad Ugh I didn't check the price!

Guess I'll check the 1/2 price bookstore first. :)

I'm not sure why publishers don't see this problem

Charles PS: After starting into "The White Wolf's Son", it appears that it is not a sequel to "Dreamthief's Daughter" per se, but rather a sort of retelling of that tale from the 1st person viewpoint of one of the characters. As such, it appears to still be a stand-alone book, and in fact having read "Dreamthief's Daughter" some years ago, I am getting a bit of deja vu reading this installment. :-)

Chad Interesting

Rachel Stefano I tried to vote away the tie, but I think I only made it a three-way tie. Whoops!

nb Is it too late to vote? I just saw Geoffrey's post on KB. Can't tell if voting is closed or I just can't find the right button to click. I vote for The Eyre Affair. It's been on my TBR list forever.
