Pamela(AllHoney) I could have listed hundreds or at least close to it but I had to stop somewhere :)

UniquelyMoi ~ The 1-click Diva I love Julie Garwood's Highlanders! Hot, sexy, funny, sexy, hot.. did I mention hot and sexy?

Carolyn I have to answer this two ways. For the best all around Highlander books - Julie Garwood. Unfortunately, Ms. Garwood writes contemporary romance novels now, much to the chagrin of her die hard fans. Personally, I feel her best work was her historical novels.

For the best author currently penning Highlander books, I would have to say, hands down, Monica McCarty.

I have Highlander Unchained Highlander Untamed and Highlander Unmasked. Which of her novels do you recommend?

Carolyn Hi Dhestiny,

"Highlander Untamed" is her very first novel in this genre and it is a great one. I'd start with that. Follow up with "Highlander Unmasked" and then "Highlander Unchained." This is her debut series about the MacLeods of Skye. I thoroughly enjoyed them all and was so delighted to find someone so talented writing about my favorite subject - Highlanders!

Her second series, The Campbells Trilogy, is equally as good. "Highland Warrior," "Highland Outlaw" and "Highland Scoundrel" all live up to her first series.

She released both of these series over a three-month period (one book a month). I LOVED that - not having to wait a year while the characters and circumstances were still fresh in my mind.

Her next series, The Highland Guard series, begins with the release of "The Chief" in March, with subsequent releases in the series in August and December.

I hope you enjoy them! I have a feeling you will! ;)

By the way, she is very close friends with Veronica Wolff. They even traveled to Scotland together last year.

UniquelyMoi ~ The 1-click Diva Carolyn, thank you soooooo much for the information! I've added your recommends to my "books to look into" WORD doc!

Pamela(AllHoney) I do like Monica McCarty and looking forward to her upcoming release. She does do some yummy heroes. :)

UniquelyMoi ~ The 1-click Diva I just ordered the Campbell trilogy... they are trilogies, right? Are they all trilogies?

Carolyn UniquelyMoi *~*Dhestiny*~* wrote: "I just ordered the Campbell trilogy... they are trilogies, right? Are they all trilogies?"

So far, yes, they are all trilogies.

I'm so glad this group opened up. Highlander books are my favorite books!

gina~* Amanda Scott.. she always whets my appetitie for a nice highland tale.

Carolyn gina~* wrote: "Amanda Scott.. she always whets my appetitie for a nice highland tale."

Oh yes, she is good as well.

So is Kathleen Givens. Sadly, we lost her just this past month.

Pamela(AllHoney) gina~* wrote: "Amanda Scott.. she always whets my appetitie for a nice highland tale."

Do u have a recommendation of hers? I've never read her but would like to ck her out

UniquelyMoi ~ The 1-click Diva Carolyn wrote: "I'm so glad this group opened up. Highlander books are my favorite books!..."

I think Garwood was my first Highlander author and they are my favorite historicals, too. I read In Bed With A Strangerby Mary Wine and really enjoyed that one, and her next one, In The Warrior's Bed comes out in March I think... I've got it pre-ordered. I liked her writing style, a lot. It's very different from Garwood, not as light and funny, but still very good.

Also, I read and loved On a Highland Shore by Kathleen Givens. That's Highlander and Viking. This is my review, if you're interested. http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

Pamela(AllHoney) Dhestiny, I really liked that one by Mary Wine also. Looking forward to the next one!
I haven't tried Kathleen Givens yet but will put her on my growing list :)

I had picked up In Bed With A Stranger on clearance. Having never read anything by Ms. Wine before, I didn't know what to expect but was very pleased. Both of the next 2 books come out this year. YAY!

I really like Kathleen Givens' writing style as well. She blended historical events and people with her fictional characters and events and it really made the book feel... well rounded... fuller, somehow. Sadly, she passed away suddenly and unexpectedly a few weeks ago. It happened just before I read On A Highland Shore and I am so sad for her family of course, but also for readers everywhere. I hope you'll give her a try.

I had picked up..."

What's this? An author who writes Highlander novels that I don't know about? I will definitely be picking up Mary Wine's books based on your recommendations. Thanks! I can't get enough of this genre. ;)

I really enjoyed it! It was different from Garwood's... not as humorous, but still a great story. I believe that In Bed With A Stranger was her first Highlander novel.

Have you read Kathleen Givens, On a Highland Shore ?

I don't have "The Legend" or "The Destiny." But, I have read and own "Kilgannon" and "The Wild Rose of Kilgannon" as well as "On a Highland Shore" and "Rivals for the Crown." Her research on the historical details was excellent. As a history nut, it added to the story for me. I really enjoyed her work and am saddened that such a voice was cut short. Yes, I liked "On a Highland Shore."

Looks like I'm off to Amazon to pick up "Destiny" and "Legend" as well as Mary Wine's "In Bed With a Stranger." Good thing my friends know my passion and provided me with a gift certificate for my birthday!

UniquelyMoi ~ The 1-click Diva Oh, I'm so happy to find another Givens fan! No one I have talked to has even heard of her before you. I was really surprised. I agree 100% about the detail given to historical accuracy. As I said, it really made the story fuller... richer is a good word for it.

I ended up buying several of her books on eBay or half.com because they are out of print, but I now have all her published works and can't wait to continue reading.

Hi Moi
You must try the new book: Dangerous Higlander by Donna Grant. This was a great Highlander book. I think you'll love it and be anticipating the next in the series like me.

UniquelyMoi ~ The 1-click Diva Thank you, Kelly! I have that one in my bedroom. Is it PNR or MMR? (Merely Mortal Romance)

(Kelly)~Got Fiction?~ Oakes PNR and a little history and current mixed in.
You'll love it.

Carolyn I agree. I enjoyed "Dangerous Highlander" by Donna Grant.

UniquelyMoi ~ The 1-click Diva Thanks, ladies! I'll get it out and read as soon as I finish my Of The Royal Line reading challenge, which will be in a couple days.

Dangerous Highlander (Dark Sword, #1) by Donna Grant

Erin* A Dangerous Love (The Border Chronicles #1) by Bertrice Small

great highlander romance!

Erin* Bertrice Small is the author

Cathiecaffey I saw the poll when I was looking up Annette Lamb's books (Gosh I so got to find them in a used book store!) I wanted to add Donna Fletcher's! I am getting so into hers and love her highlanders!

I too read a debut by Amanda Forester THE HIGHLANDER'S SWORD (from Sourcebooks) It was a sweet read but I thought it was very good (but missed the heat in it :)
Too, just others I read and enjoy:

-Terry Spear (with paranormal elements)
-Shari Anton (seems she not write anymore)
-Denise Lynn (writes the Harlequin Historicals and would love to see her write some single titles!)
-Terri Brisban (anything she writes)
-Catherine Kean (If you haven't read hers, so recommend any of them!)
-Tina St. John (now writes Breeds as Lara but had a few historicals out that are worth to find and keep!)
-Kira Morgan CAPTURE BY DESIRE was so good! Second book is out SEDUCED BY DESTINY but need to get yet :((wrote as Glynnis Campbell & Sarah McKerrigan) Going to check out recommendations here! I know I have some authors I've yet not read them yet and hear so much good about them!

Kimberly Parthemore I love Julie Garwood (have read ALL of her's), Michele Sinclair's McTiernay brothers, Hannah Howell's Murray's (I have read 9 of them), but I LOVE Marti Talbot's MacGreagor series. I highly recommend for any of you who haven't read them to go do it.

I have 3 Teri Brisbane books that I LOVE!!

Glenda Grinols johnson I voted 'Other' because Lynn Kurland is my favorite Highlander Romance Author and she was not one of the choices. Love her De Piaget and MacLeod stories!

Cathiecaffey Oh wow, I didn't even realize that Lynn Kurland books weren't listed! I've only read a couple since I decided to check out much later, but so loved them too! I can never figure out the order to read them in!

I randomly picked up A Garden In The Rain while at the store one day, needing something to read. That was all it took! At that time I followed her books in the order they were listed at the beginning of that book but if you go to her website she has a reading order list. I read them by publish date. Here: http://www.lynnkurland.com/books-by-l...

I TOTALLY agree! I love the same series you like too. And, I TOTALLY agree about Marti Talbott's Highlander Series.

I just finished my second re-read of Marti Talbott's Highlander series. At the time of writing this, there are 13 books - all of them page turners. The series covers four generations of one Highland clan. I cannot say enough about these books! They are wonderful stories. They are character-based books, with no foul language and/or sex scenes. Now, I like a steamy sex scene as much as the next; however, I was so engrossed in the story lines, that I never even missed them. I laughed, I cried, I became totally invested in the MacGreagor clan. I have to say that there is no place I'd rather be than in a glen, deep in the Highlands, on the back of a wild black stallion, with my favorite Highland clan, the MacGreagors.

Perfect, that guide helps on what order to read Lynn Kurland's books in! I got lots more to read so good timing too!

Julie I wish Julie Garwood would write some more Highlander novels, they have to be my favourites.
