I hear an instrumentalia song if i study from a book. But I can not hear a song if I read a fiction book.
The use of music while reading varies for me. There is specific music that I associate with certain authors that I may listen to. Then there is background music like Bach or some Impressionist chamber works. Other times the music intrudes on my reading and I must turn it off.
funny, I thought the question was, do you listen to music while you write.....OOOPS. Music while I read? It doesn't matter. As long as it is not disruptive. Silence seems to be a wonderful backdrop to reading. That or Bach.
I find if I'm reading a good book that I become unaware of the world around me so music either goes unnoticed or serves to distract.
All of the time. In fact music, specific pieces like Aaron Copland's Appalachian Spring helped me create specific scenes. I wrote an essay called Writing Through Music. It is on my Redroom Site: http://www.redroom.com/blog/naseem-rakha...
