If you were in someones house for the first time, and there were NO books in sight...what would you think of them?

It wouldn't bother me. Everyone is different.

I'd figure that their books were stacked away out of sight since I could not fathom not owning any books...

Ugh! No books, how could I even think of encouraging a friendship with someone who doesn't read!

I would try to introduce them to the world of literature, but would end the friendship if they wouldn't at least TRY to enjoy reading.

I prefer people who don't read. I like being unique.

stormhawk I think it's weird, but it doesn't bother me.

Unapologetic_Bookaholic I have to be able to talk about my ONE true love. If someone is hiding their books they might have covers that can't be shown in polite company, hehe. Understandable.

message 3: by Lostinfiction (new)

Lostinfiction it's pretty weird, but it's their call I guess. I suppose it would be like someone who doesn't really listen to music, or someone who doesn't put up artwork on their walls.

Jessica~CoinOperatedJoy Everyone who went to school has read a book so if there weren't any about I wouldn't assume it was because they didn't have any but if that person really didn't have any it would make no difference to me. Perhaps they are avid musicians who spend every cent they have on new music or instrument repairs...or maybe they own an iPhone or a Kindle. You just never know and don't we preach that you can't judge a book by its cover?

message 5: by Eva (new)

Eva I'd figure they were somewhere else and then ask where they were. Everyone has books, don't they? *is naively puzzled by any other option*

message 6: by Kathy (new)

Kathy It's very sad, though!

message 7: by Layna (new)

Layna See, here's the thing. I read ALL the time but I do not own any books. I don't like clutter in my place and I'd rather not own a lot of possessions. I get all of my books from the library.

So I met someone without any books, I probably wouldn't think anything of it [:

message 8: by Emespre (new)

Emespre I wouldn't really think about it. Out of my best friends, one loves reading even more than I do, one likes reading but had some slight condition at birth and so isn't a very good reader and so doesn't read much, and one cannot stand reading.

message 9: by Kat (new)

Kat Alexander I'd assume that they have some sort of ebook reader or just check everything out from the library... can't imagine I'd end up at their house if they just didn't ever read!

message 10: by ☆∞Love (new)

☆∞Love Frances∞☆ I would ask them if they were readers, maybe they like magazines or manga or comics.
