Not that I'm a wimp, but did anyone else realize that FIVE of these books are in the top 25 "Thickest Books Ever" list?
There may be some "thick" books in this list; but they're also some of the finest literature known to the world! This is an awesomely impressive list of books. No matter the final outcome, we are all sure to have a fabulous read! Cheers! Chris
That was a hard decision to make. Regarding thick books...don't let them scare you. Once I got over my fright of the length of War and Peace I picked it up and found it to be a very quick read. And, a truly great piece of literature!
Stacie, you also read The Count of Monte Carlo in about 5 minutes!
BTW, I love the sound of War and Peach - where can I get a copy of that? ;O)
And it's neck and neck for the two Eliot books with 10 votes each. She's a popular lady this month. Mind you there is still time for others to steal the crown - Vanity Fair and Jane Eyre are hovering in the wings too.
Yes, it looks like folks better make sure they can dig up their tattered and annotated copies of Middlemarch or The Mill on the Floss and get ready for some stimulating discussion with George Eliot!
Boof, I was going to say yesterday that it looked like Middlemarch was running away with it. I was about to start Mill on the Floss because I didn't think it could possible catch up. I guess I should wait to see the final result. If Mill doesn't win, do you want to start reading at the end of the poll?
I voted for the only one that I own yet have not read. I'm reading Middlemarch right this moment and I've read Mill on the Floss quite recently! C'mon Anna Karenina, you can do it ;)
I have withdrawn my vote for Trollope's He Knew He Was Right in favor of Eliot's Middlemarch; a book, I believe, was written for a group read and discussion! So far, the voter turnout is just about 30% of the total group members. Maybe we can do a Trollope at some future point.
Since the race was tight, I've recast my vote for Middlemarch. The more I read about it and George Eliot, the more excited I become.
Wow, I am going to Duluth today. I guess I will have to buy both since its so close. Darn it :). Easier for me to get them while I am down there then send and pay shipping.
Wow, it really is so close for Eliot vs Eliot. Voting closes at the end of today so....who's it gonna be?

That, dear Susanna, is entirely funneh!
:O)))))

"In the case of war and peace, its not just the length that's the problem. the number of characters maybe off putting. Not sure if it can be done in a month. it took me all one summer. But its well worth the effort.
