What is your idea about adding a new field for "Translator"?
I really need that
It should not be added
I did not feel the need for it
It seems as a good idea

michael R has pretty much summed up what we've been planning for some time now.I'd like to take a moment to remind everyone that we're hiring:

More developers = More Features!
Michael, your idea is really great! It will even solve more problems than this only translator one. For instance, I hate to see a collection of poems of my favorite poet logged as the name of the collector. I mean the book is listed under the name of the collector as its author, but the real author is the poet. If we had the tag, it would be solved.
The main problem is that I think this little change of adding a tag for the author has a significant effect on the design of the GoodReads application. I'm not sure they can add it as fast as we would wish.
Michael, That's the best solution I've seen proposed. If Goodreads could handle things that way, it would be great.
I think I like your suggested solution. This would also work for an audio book's narrator, which is something I've been wanting for a while.
I think that rather than adding a specific field (what if there is more than one translator?), there should (1) be the ability to add more than three authors, and (2) each author could have a label/tag (from a dropdown list) perhaps indicating their role, including such things as Author, Editor, Translator, Illustrator, Contributor, etc. This would be much more flexible and not give Translator (which despite everything is likely only important for a small fraction [not small number, just small fraction] of books) special treatment
