The absolutely worst books you can think of
Even though the title is pretty self-explanatory, just for fun . . .

The Named by Marianne Curley. I don't know why this book got so many praises from critics. It's so unoriginal and the pace is waaay too fast. Maybe I dislike it because it's for younger readers, but still. I could write a better book than this.
Brian D. Palmer couldn't write his way out of a paper bag, AND he's a dishonest historian.Read Descent into Discourse in a grad course on historiography. The entire class voted it as "would most like to burn in a trash can" - it was that annoying. (It was not quite thick enough to win "use as a doorstop.")
Moby-Dick or, The Whale
Must be the most mundane book ever written. Have always been an avid reader of just about any genre of book, but this one just stuck in my craw. Could not get through it.
Island of the Blue Dolphins
This has got to be the worst book ever written, so bad that I was so ready to destroy it! I had to read for my english teacher in fourth grade.
