Yes! I don't feel alone! ugggg it makes me so mad!

I wasn't a huge fan of Mr Darcy, Vampyre, or Pride and Prejudice and Vampires, but I'm looking forward to Jane Slayre and Little Vampire Women.

message 4: by Silver (new)

Silver I love vampire and wherewovles but they do not belong in our classic novels unless it is Dracula

Marion Julie wrote: "Ugh, don't mess with Jane Eyre. Stupid werewolves and vampires."

When I saw it in Borders I had tears in my eyes. That's what sparked this list...

message 6: by Marion (new)

Marion Jeremiah wrote: "Why is Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter on this list? It isn't a literary classic. Yes, it was written by the same person who did PPandZ, but doesn't mean it violates anything. Just wondering."

Sorry..just went on a rampage of picking off books with monsters/Victorian attire on them after seeing Jane Slayer in Border...broke my heart. I'll get rid of it!

message 7: by mindaugas (new)

mindaugas this is a travesty! horrible, horrible. might as well shit on the authors' graves.

message 8: by Marion (new)

Marion I just have to say...Pinocchio!?! Really!?!? That just made me laugh, and then question life...with no offense to the author of course...

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

The titles are really funny, but I have no will of reading these books.

message 10: by Jeremiah (new)

Jeremiah I still don't think Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter belongs on this list. It is not a literary classic, it is informative/accurate, and it is an entertaining read. Can you still get rid of it Marion?

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

A violation is right. Authors have no right to mix in vampires, werewolves, and monsters with the classics. Great list, Marion.

message 12: by Halos (new)

Halos Bravo for taking a stand, GoodReads members. Be a literary purist, indeed! I've always been more of a Wuthering Heights fangirl, but even whoring out Jane Eyre to paranormal-cash cow hungry publishers is too much.

message 13: by Kellee (new)

Kellee I especially don't see why one would need to add to Alice in Wonderland, The Wizard of Oz, or War of the Worlds(last 2 not on your list, but on another similar one). I personally thought the originals were scary enough.

message 14: by Maryam (new)

Maryam Whatever happened to not tampering with what is good? I am beginning to lose faith in this world.

message 15: by Rea (new)

Rea K i almost bought the Mr. Darcy, Vampyre, but changed my mind... i prefer the tampering with originals, not writing unauthorized sequels and those being tampered with too.
also... i see The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and Zombie Jim and automatically think "Tippecanoe and Tyler too!"

message 16: by Josh (new)

Josh B. This mashing up has always annoyed me too, why are author's too lazy to right their own novels instead of ripping at classics for a cheap buck? I just don't get it.
And seriously, if your gonna read 800 pages of "Android Karenina," why not just read the original?

message 17: by Loveliest (new)

Loveliest Evaris Oh God... my eyes... The classics.. how they weep!

message 18: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie I don't think their that bad. They have a little fun with the classics and its actually interesting if you don't take it seriously.

message 19: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Marion wrote: "I just have to say...Pinocchio!?! Really!?!? That just made me laugh, and then question life...with no offense to the author of course..."

It sounds awful, but I actually gave it a try and it isn't half bad.

message 20: by Lau (new)

Lau A ghost of the original authors should appear to this people the minute they think about starting this... things.

message 21: by Josh (new)

Josh B. Uh, why is the Aeneid by Virgil on here? It already is a classic, i don't recall any vampires or zombies when reading it. I don't think it should be on this list?..
