Paladin of Souls, by Lois McMaster Bujold, is indeed wonderful, but it can't be described as anything other than a fantasy novel and so it should be removed.

It's "Best Science Fiction of the 21st Century...so far" cause it's like 90 years left yet. :)And some of these books are from XX century. Just making the point. :)
Legion of the Damned by William Dietz was published in 1993.Doomsday Book by Connie Willis was published in 1993.
The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russel was published in 1997.
A Miracle of Rare Design by Mike Resnick was published in 1996.
Is there a way to automate a check for publication date?
Yes, there seems to be a way because I've seen this feature in some other lists, and I'm trying to find out more in the Librarians Group. Also, I just realized that technically the 21st century is from 2001 to 2100, but I'll ignore this because to most people it was the year digits going from 19xx to 20xx that made the difference...
Thanks for bringing those books to attention. They've been removed.
Yes, and to think they're Science Fiction readers! That's so insulting to the rest of us.Just finished sweeping the 2nd page clean and I'm so exhausted. I think my broom's going to break any minute! (No SF robot at my service) Here's what I swept out:
Phylogenesis (1999)
Souls in the Great Machine (1999)
Ender's Shadow (1999)
Ender's Game (1985)
Logan's Run (1967)
Ender's Game is on there again. And The Chrysalids DEFINITELY wasn't published in the twenty first century, new introduction or not. :)
Going to delete all the books by Julie Rollins (currently #15-19). Votes are by dummy profiles (books & friends in single digits, consistently voting for only these 4 books in all lists), clearly fraudulent.
Removed for being published before the 21st century:Snow Crash (1992)
The Chrysalids (1955)
Ender's Game (1985)
Let me know if there are others, I only checked the few I thought were suspect.
Removed The Complete Fiction (collection), Solaris, Forward the Foundation and Tales of Pirx the Pilot
Clark Gifford's Body was great but... it was first published in 1942! only republished in 2006 by NYRB.
Norman wrote: "A Fire Upon the Deep by Vernor Vinge was published in 1993 and so should be removed from this list."Removed.
Lucius Shepard's Life During Wartime (#158) is from 1987.William Gibson's Neuromancer (#123) is from 1984.
Lois McMaster Bulold's The Vor Game (#118) is from 1990.
Kim Stanley Robinson's Red Mars (#115) is from 1993.
And that's just from 1 page. You shouldn't be allowed to post if you can't operate a browser before you do it.
Quicksilver by Neal Stephenson is one of the best books I've read but it's Historical Fiction, no doubt. Should prolly be removed.
Thanks Dan. However, although Quicksilver could be classified as Historical Fiction, more than 200 goodreaders have also shelved it as Science Fiction. Also, it was the winner of the Arthur C. Clarke Award (2004) and a finalist for the Locus Award for Best Science Fiction Novel (2004), and has been reviewed in Locus, Vector (Journal of the British Science Fiction Association) and Asimov's Science Fiction Magazine.
So due to all this perhaps it will be better to leave it on this list.

Here's a few more that need to be removed:Lucifer's Hammer (#132) was first published in 1977.
The Forever War (#133) was first published in 1974.
Darwin's Radio (#170) was first published in 1999.
A Deepness In The Sky (#175) was first published in 1999.
Hyperion (also #175) was first published in 1989.
Mona Lisa overdrive (#182) was first published in 1988.
And still more that need to be removed:The Fall Of Hyperion (#228) was first published in 1990.
Endymion (#240) was first published in 1996.
Rise Of Endymion (#255) was first published in 1997.
Marooned in Realtime (#266) was first published in 1986.
Manifold Time (#273) was first published in 1999.
The Dispossessed (#278) was first published in 1974.
Hey, I'm all for it. The Baroque Cycle is one of my all time favorite stories but I thought in the interest of genre integrity I'd point it out. DEFINITELY not upset that it remains on the list though. :)
Removed Brave New World (1932), The End of Eternity (1955), A Wrinkle in Time (1962), Ender's Game (1985), The Sparrow (1996), and Enchantment (1999).
