♥ ♥Lynn ♥ ♥ Don't Die My Love was one of my favorite books growing up. LOVED it! I still have it today.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads The Boxcar Children was first published in 1942, so I'm not sure how relevant to this list it is.

message 3: by Lorelei (new)

Lorelei Great list! Helps me remind me of what I was doing back then. haha

message 4: by Amy (new)

Amy Don't die my love and All the days of her life by Lurlene McDaniel were two of her books that I loved, though I actually loved all the ones I read.

message 5: by Henryetta (last edited Nov 05, 2014 10:50AM) (new)

Henryetta "Add anything as long as there are at least TWO books in the series and they're from the 80s and 90s" After re-reading your instructions, I realize the books had to be from a SERIES. I just deleted my choices. I think some of the books that have been added to the list are NOT series books.

message 6: by Diana (new)

Diana Omg, Stories to Tell In The Dark used to scare the crap out of me when I was a kid!!

message 7: by Esther (new)

Esther Cotton Oh, nostalgia. :P Nice list!

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads The Secret Garden, though a lovely book, is certainly not from the 80s or 90s - it was first published in 1911. Also, it is not a series.

The Anne of Green Gables books are certainly a series, but of the same vintage; nearly a century old.

message 9: by Jill (new)

Jill Swanson-Diaz This is such a great list!
I was feeling a bit nostalgic tonight and just spent over an hour remembering books from when I was in elementary :]
Thanks for this.

message 10: by faeriemyst (new)

faeriemyst @Susanna - Thank you for noticing, I've removed those books you mentioned plus a few others. No doubt I've missed some that are either not part of a series or are older or newer than these specific decades.

@Jill - I'm glad you like the list! :)

To anyone else, if you notice any books that do not belong here, please let me know by either commenting on the list or messaging me directly. Thank you all for adding to this nostalgic list!

faeriemyst Here's another 80s/90s listmania where you can add standalones and series books: http://www.goodreads.com/list/show/16...

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads Summer of My German Soldier is 70s, as is Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH, Mandy, The Cat Ate My Gymsuit, and The Pistachio Prescription.

The Pigman is from 1968.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads Just noticed Lisa Bright and Dark, which is from 1968, and The Tripods Trilogy, which is from 1972. (Some titles just jump out at me - if I remember reading them, there's a good chance they're too old for this list!)

Well thanks for your eyes because mine go cross! LOL

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads Yes, all the titles run together after a while, don't they?

message 17: by faeriemyst (new)

faeriemyst Sure do. :)

message 18: by Dawn (new)

Dawn I think the Ordinary Princess is a stand alone book (also not sure of publication date).

And I don't think anything by VC Andrews is Young Adult?

message 19: by Katie (last edited Sep 18, 2012 02:12PM) (new)

Katie Does anyone know of a teen book that is about a young gal who starts off not liking a boy name Bram... she or he rescues a scotty dog and she really tries not to like the boy Bram... she works in a vet hospital (i think) and it seems that he likes her best friend Cindy (natural pretty blonde) but in the end, he ends up liking her and not her best friend... there is a scene in the middle of the book where he shows up at her home and watches "gone with the wind" with her and possibly her mom or aunt, she considers this to be totally out of character for him. While she watches the movie, she says her feet are cold and he says to put them under his leg to warm up....... I AM SORRY, THIS IS ALL I REMEMBER, I READ THIS AS A TEEN AND FEEL IN LOVE WITH THIS BOOK AFTER THIS SCENE. ANY HELP OR SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE HELPFUL, I KNOW IT'S A LONG STRETCH. I THINK THE TITLE HAS THE WORD DOG IN IT BUT AGAIN, NOT SURE. THANKS

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads No, I don't Katie. Sorry!

Have you tried asking over at the "What's the name of this book?" group?

message 22: by Brianna (last edited Jan 18, 2014 03:18PM) (new)

Brianna Great list, especially when one is suffering from teenage years nostalgia. As I added a series I just remembered from the 90s, which took awhile on searching various media sites.

Around #239 - The Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie was published in the 1930s. It sure does not age though the story!

message 23: by Laura (new)

Laura Hargreaves Wow, I love this! I really fancy a nostalgic read through some of these! :-)

message 24: by Suzana (new)

Suzana Thompson I love this, but there were also many great books from then that weren't part of a series. I'm looking for one in particular. It was a teen romance written by an actual teen girl. There was a boy who lived in a loft type apartment. I'm pretty sure he rode a motorcycle, and it was a star-crossed love, very angsty. It was very different than most books, because they broke up at the end of the story. I would love to read it again if anybody remembers the title.

Kirsten The Face on the Milk Carton isn't part of a series

My bad. When I went to the book page, it didn't have the series in brackets like usual so I just assumed. Thanks for letting me know.

message 31: by Aleksa (new)

Aleksa Looking for this book series I'm pretty sure it was written in the 80s or 90s. It's a teen series situated in a hospital. The first book in the series involved a fever of unknown origin. It's making people especially sick and runs very high. In the end, one of the businessmen brought it home after a recent trip out of the country. His daughter was the first death. The other ones involve a snowstorm (blizzard) and an earthquake...and either a fire or flood. The titles are very simple. I believe the first one is FEVER but I'm not sure. It's a series of I think 5 books. One of the characters I remember is in a wheelchair and was a swimmer I believe and she left him in the hospital.

Be sure to read the posting rules; so many people don't, and we're inundated with topic titles like 'HELP ME!!!!!!'.

Hadessephy I think I have read at least half the books on this list!

message 34: by Katie (new)

Katie This is a good list. Maybe you guys can help me find a book I read back in the 90s! It was a YA Fantasy Romance. It took place in Seattle, WA where a teenaged girl finds a strange locket in a small shop at the Pike Place Market. She wears it on a school field trip to the Seattle Art Museum where she breaks up with her boyfriend after he tells her she's emotionally cold and distant. While in the museum she comes across the sarcophagus of an Egyptian Prince, Amenharris. Her amulet belongs to him and it awakens him. I remember that he shows up at her house and she tricks her mom into beliveing he is an exchange student that the school mixed up on housing. I remember the amulet she wears is called a Heartstone and that it was made from the blood of Amenharris' heart as a gift for his lover. It was supposed to grant her, her hearts desire. Which he thought would be a lifetime with him, only it turned out to be a wish for eternal youth and beauty. She shows up again and tries to steal the amulet and I remember that the first girl and Amenharris fall in love.

Does that sound familiar to anyone?

Katie, have you tried What's the Name of That Book????

I went to try but it said you had to be a member and wouldn't let me.

Lou Rocama If you don't want to join the group I can post a request for you, though the back and forth between here and there will confuse things a bit.

It's a public group tho. Anyone can join. Some people join and then leave as soon as their book is found.
