Rebekah Fine, I'm a mean person. I just saw the book cover for "Dragon's Egg" and laughed so hard I nearly choked.

message 2: by Susanne (new)

Susanne Seriously, who designs that stuff? Fag-hags that haven't go laid in 5 yrs and take out their beef with men on the unsuspecting? The one to "Beaten But Unconquered" actually scarred me for life I think.

message 3: by Renee (ren213) (new)

Renee (ren213) Oh My God. I'm totally going to get into trouble at work for screwing around-I can't stop laughing.

message 4: by M'rella (new)

M'rella The one to "Beaten But Unconquered" actually scarred me for life..."

I believe that one has a good chance to be in the top ten on a "Worst Title" list, too! LOL

message 5: by Dawn (new)

Dawn OMG, please pass the eye bleach!!

message 6: by Katie (new)

Katie Ahaha...It's sad when a book shames you so much you don't even look at the summary after one glance at the cover. Even harlequins have better cover art!

message 7: by M'rella (last edited Jul 05, 2010 11:48AM) (new)

M'rella Katie wrote: "Ahaha...It's sad when a book shames you so much you don't even look at the summary after one glance at the cover. Even harlequins have better cover art!"

It should not even be called art!
I wonder how the whole process works?
Do authors have a say in it or they just go with editor's/publisher's choice?
I would rather have my book cover blank with just a title rather than scare readers away.

message 8: by Anum (new)

Anum You slave over a story for hours each day and then when it is finally finished, you end up naming it 'Full moon mating' and giving it that horrid cover!!! Why did you even bother?

message 9: by Melissa (new)

Melissa I don't read gay fiction and I don't think I ever will, not with these books anyway.. Haha!! *bleaches eyes*

message 10: by Katie (new)

Katie Melissa wrote: "I don't read gay fiction and I don't think I ever will, not with these books anyway.. Haha!! *bleaches eyes*"

Awww, see, that's why these covers are so terrible! They scare away potential readers. =( I've actually read some really good gay fic, but yeah...I highly doubt I'd read these either. xD

message 11: by M'rella (new)

M'rella Katie wrote: "Awww, see, that's why these covers are so terrible! They scare away p..."

Some of these books are as bad as the covers, I am sorry to say :(

message 12: by Angel (new)

Angel The sad thing is I am willing to bet one or two of these books at least may be good. But the covers are oh so wrong, and in some cases, oh so funny. I am still laughing over one or two as I am typing this comment.

Are these books like buying booze at your local convenience store? Sold in a brown paper bag?

message 13: by M'rella (new)

M'rella Angel wrote: "Sold in a brown paper bag?"

Yeah, and at least one of the books from this list should be read with that brown bag over your head. Don't ask me which one, though. I have nothing against the author herself :)

message 14: by Angel (new)

Angel Mammarella wrote: "Angel wrote: "Sold in a brown paper bag?"

Oh my goodness, now that sounds even funnier. :)

message 15: by Bossy (new)

Bossy omg, I laughed so hard I snorted. I don't understand how anyone in their right mind approved "dragon's egg" or the vomit-inducing "beaten but unconquered".

message 16: by Nanny Ogg (new)

Nanny Ogg Bossy wrote: "omg, I laughed so hard I snorted. I don't understand how anyone in their right mind approved "dragon's egg" or the vomit-inducing "beaten but unconquered"."

Oh lol, Dragon's Egg looks like a snapshot from sims xD

Bossy NannyOgg wrote: "Oh lol, Dragon's Egg looks like a snapshot from sims xD"

omg it does!!

message 18: by Tailtiu (last edited Feb 03, 2014 06:56AM) (new)

Tailtiu I just posted Why I Love Waiters (Why I Love... #2) by T.A. Chase
Who will create such a "thing" and why did the Author accept this cover?

message 19: by M'rella (new)

M'rella What IS up with that "waiter" outfit? *shrugs*

message 20: by Azalea (new)

Azalea Moone Aww, ya know, the artsy covers (Mary Calmes books) aren't that bad :(

message 21: by M'rella (new)

M'rella I like Mary Calmes' covers, too.

message 22: by Tailtiu (new)

Tailtiu Angel wrote: "The sad thing is I am willing to bet one or two of these books at least may be good...."

Most of the books are good, there are a lot of 4+ books on the list.
And I like the Mary Calmes cover too.

message 23: by M'rella (new)

M'rella Topping Timothy is as good as the cover - lol
I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

message 24: by Angel (new)

Angel Susanne wrote: "Seriously, who designs that stuff? Fag-hags that haven't go laid in 5 yrs and take out their beef with men on the unsuspecting? The one to "Beaten But Unconquered" actually scarred me for life I th..."

The whole taking the beef out on the unsuspecting just had me laughing.

Oh,these covers are bad. lol.

message 25: by Angel (new)

Angel I can't vote any further. I am laughing too hard now. By the way, what about some of the titles? Seriously lol.

message 26: by M'rella (last edited Apr 04, 2012 08:01PM) (new)

M'rella I like "The Price of Temptation" cover. It's a classic :D
Besides, her other book Discreet Young Gentleman has something similar. New trend =)

message 27: by Brittany B. (new)

Brittany B. I cannot believe these are real. "Dragon's Egg" is unbelievable. Lofl.

message 28: by Lori S. (new)

Lori S. The shame of it all is that several of the books on this list (L.A. Bytes by PA Brown, Deadly Slumber by Victor Banis, etc.) are actually very good stories. This is a case of don't judge a book by its cover. However, the cover is often what makes me stop and look long enough to want to see what the book is about (unless it is by an author I already like at which point I go by the synopsis rather than the cover - Stephani Hecht I'm looking at you!).

Sometimes the authors have very little say on what kind of covers their books end up with. I wonder just how many book sales are lost just because of really bad cover art? Everyone mentions the first book in the list, but what about the cover for book number 3? Ugh.

message 29: by Olga (last edited Oct 14, 2012 03:16PM) (new)

Olga This is the most horrid & hilarious thing I've seen in a while.

message 30: by Adara (new)

Adara WHY am I only the second person to vote for ZAM's Stirring Up Trouble? Srsly people, move it way up the list. At least get it on page 1 of the list. =)

message 31: by Yummy (last edited Nov 27, 2012 01:42AM) (new)

Yummy there are some really bad covers in this list, but i find that some aren't bad at all like:
1. A Russian Bear, it describes well what it is about, and i don't see why ppl consider it bad.
2. Change of Heart, this one i think it should have a better quality cover that shows better how good the book is, but i don't think it is a worse cover.
3. Bloodraven well this one is at the end of the list for good reason, cuz i don't find the cover bad at all, it is quite well in my opinion.
But this is matter of taste also, i guess.

message 32: by Zeh (new)

Zeh Nothing is worst than bad 3D art on the cover, my vote goes to... With Honor.

message 33: by M'rella (new)

M'rella Agree with Yummy.

message 34: by M'rella (last edited Feb 05, 2014 01:06PM) (new)

M'rella Adding Crucible of Fate Crucible of Fate (Change of Heart, #4) by Mary Calmes. Cause, seriously - what's with the face? And man-boobs keep playing a trick on me man-boobs/cave-ins... the optical illusion makes me dizzy. But mostly the face - lol And shoulder(pad)s - is he from the eighties? O.o

message 35: by Dreamer (new)

Dreamer So many bad covers to choose from!

message 36: by M'rella (last edited Aug 08, 2013 08:47AM) (new)

M'rella Adding Mr. Wolfe by A.J. Llewellyn. Cause... seriously. This particular face-on-face attempt at capturing mid-transformation never works.

message 37: by Nanny Ogg (new)

Nanny Ogg Added Cursed by Rhianne Aile... Urgh.

P.S. This book is already on the list, but in a different edition & cover.

message 38: by M'rella (last edited Aug 08, 2013 08:48AM) (new)

M'rella Lesser Evils (Infected, #6) by Andrea Speed is the best cover ever to show a human and an animal as one.

message 39: by Tailtiu (last edited Feb 02, 2014 11:01PM) (new)

Tailtiu I'm adding Safe by Mark Richard Zubro just look at the cover and you'll know why...

message 40: by Erica (new)

Erica MY EYES! Quick, someone gouge out my eyes! LMAO

Sweet, merciful Sasquatch. I've seen some cringe-worthy covers before but nothing like these.

message 41: by Yummy (new)

Yummy Mammarella wrote: "Adding Crucible of Fate. Cause, seriously - what's with the face? And man-boobs keep playing a trick on me man-boobs/cave-ins... the optical illusion makes me dizzy. But mostly the..."

hehehe yeah that cover disturbed me a lot too. :D

message 42: by Shayla (new)

Shayla Mist There are some books in this list with very nice covers. I don't get it. Bad or pretty bad is one thing, but worse is a lot. This list should only have very bad covers not a mix of bad and ok. IMO

message 43: by Melanie~~ (last edited Sep 27, 2014 11:46AM) (new)

Melanie~~ I think the forced head positions on Campus Visit Campus Visit by Stella Huertomake it worthy of this list. It's like they are conjoined.

Anyone can add books to this list.
