Stephen King isn't an independent author... as much as I enjoy his books, he really doesn't belong on this list.
I voted for R A Evans, Asylum Lake, it is an awesome read. Very scary and very dark. Loved every word of it!
I added "The Citizens" and "Dhampiri" to the list. They're both still fairly new so, as independents, they aren't very well known yet. But they're getting really great reviews on Amazon and B&N and they're available for Kindle, Nook, and in paperback.I am having a contest and the prize is a free signed, Paperback copy of "The Citizens". *sigh* Every indie list I've found so far is smattered with large-press books simply because there are ignorant people who blatantly insist on adding their favorite best seller to every list that they can find.It's tough being an indie - but well worth it in other ways.

I added my book, Ash: Return Of The Beast, but it didn't show up on the list. I'm assuming it would appear at the bottom of the list but I don't see it. Guess I'm not surprised. I've been on goodreads for a couple of years now and I'm still baffled by how most of it works... or doesn't work. Like, for instance, above this comment window there's a link that says "add book/author". But when I enter the title of my book it says "no books found". Maybe if I hang around here for another couple of years I'll figure it out. LOL

But this list is a bit confusing. It is constantly changing. You might want to just try and add it again if you still don't see it. Good luck!
PS: Your book sounds really interesting, not my usual type of reading...but if I get brave enough, I might have to check it out. ;)
Hey Gary,I had the same problem with my books when I first started using Goodreads but realized that the more I searched for them and included them in posts the more consistent and precise their listings became.
For me part of the problem was that I was searching for "The Citizens" and about 100 books would come up with similar titles but I wouldn't see mine anywhere. I tried "The Citizens: A Jazz Nemesis Novel" and got nothing, then tried L. M. Smith and got nothing.
Finally realized Goodreads is very picky about what you search for. I can always find my book by searching either "The Citizens (A Jazz Nemesis Novel) or L.M. Smith, without a space between the L. and the M.
For the longest time Goodreads had about four other novels listed on my author's page that weren't mine but I sent them an email and they fixed it.

Thanks, L.M. - I remember when there were a couple books on my page that weren't mine, also. But eventually they just disappeared. I guess with a site this huge there are bound to be glitches of one sort or another. :-)

Not many Indie books have covers that attract the reader. The typography is horrible. The only one I read was Angelfall, and there was way too many words on each page and the cover's not so great. The book inside was amazing and interesting. These people need better designers! I could do better than many of these covers.

I'm cleaning up this list a bit. I removed a ton of James Patterson books and working on some of the author authors mentioned above (King, Collins, etc.).Can anyone speak to Melissa de le Cruz? The books I'm looking at are all published by Hyperion - but I'm not sure if she originally published independently or not.
I'll add this to my list of lists to check, so feel free to comment if you find any other authors who don't fit!
