Ah - it's the first list I've ever made, and as silly as I feel...I'm not sure how to lock it. Nor am I sure how to fix changes that were made after votes threw off the order. I suppose it doesn't actually matter, since all of these are the "best" and perhaps it will be better to delve a bit.

I'd definitely say to lock it down so that no other books are added, but I think it's interesting to see how the list differs based on what the voters here like. You could put a comment in for the book's NPR rank for each book, but that could take a while.

If you go to the edit list page, there's a "static" checkbox. If you check that, then people can't add to the list. Cool bonus is that it becomes eligible for being a list challenge and people can compare how many they've read with their friends. :)

There should be an "(edit)" button for you near the top of the page...usually it's right after the description, but you haven't added one, so not sure what it'll look like actually, but it should be somewhere just under the page title.

ETA: Just checked a list I created a few years ago; I don't see it on that "edit" page, either.

Only the creator can get to the edit page and check the 'static' box. So hopefully Anne comes back soon to protect the list! :)

Hm, not sure why you can't edit that old list of yours. Can you post the list ID? Or the URL for the list page? I'll take a look and see if I can figure out why.

Hm, weird, looks like you should be able to edit it. Sorry, I guess the box is actually labeled "Static list", and has a little '?' next to it that explains that if you check it, then only you and librarians can edit.

Just to check, you can click the "edit" link and get to the edit list page, right? It shows Title, Description, Tags and then the checkbox?

I can use the edit page on that one - title, description, tags, below that "combine duplicates" and "remove particular books." And that's all that's on it.

I am back! But I can't check static - the only options are Title, Description, and Tags (as Susanna said). Perhaps you have to be a librarian?

Oh, I didn't realize that it was a special permission. After talking to Daniel, my understanding is that only superlibrarians can do it right now, so I marked this one as static myself. So Anne, let me know if you need me to re-open it (e.g. if someone slipped a book in there somewhere... ;) ).

I really appreciate this list. At work, we are having a challenge to read the whole 100. But it would be nice if I am Legend was listed as just that book rather than I am Legend and other Stories as I only read the one book.

This list has been guiding my recreational reading for some time now. Too many dystopian novels for my taste, but they are really good - you just have to space them out or you'll get majorly depressed.
