Interview with Susan Mallery
October, 2009
Susan Mallery
SS: How would you describe your life in only 8 words?
SM: Crazy, fun, loving, busy
SS: What is your motto or maxim?
SM: Who we love and who loves us is far more important than what we do.
SS: How would you describe perfect happiness?
SM: Contentment with all one has. I think the happiest people live in the now and find joy in the moment. It's the old saying that life is a journey and so many of us keep waiting for that destination.
SS: What’s your greatest fear?
SM: Something bad happening to someone I love.
SS: If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you choose to be?
SM: The mall... Okay--I'm kidding on that one. Somewhere warm and sunny because as I type this it's about 30 degrees and we haven't seen the sun in 10 days. So somewhere warm and sunny with people I love and someone else doing the cooking!
SS: What are your most overused words or phrases?
SM: Interesting...amazing...significant...matter, as in "does that matter." Oh, I recently finished a book where apparently everyone tilted their head over and over again!
SS: What do you regret most?
SM: I don't believe in regrets.
SS: If you could acquire any talent, what would it be?
SM: I would love to be able to draw or paint.
SS: What’s your fantasy profession?
SM: Personal shopper.
SS: If you could eat only one thing for the rest of your days, what would it be?
SM: Chocolate
SS: Who are your favorite authors?
SM: As all my friends are writers, I have learned to never, ever list favorites. I left someone out once, by accident, and I'm still hearing about it!
SS: Do you have one sentence of advice for new writers?
SM: Don't give up!
SS: What comment do you hear most often from your readers?
SM: I love your characters--they're so real.
