SS: What’s your greatest fear?

HL: Becoming invisible.

SS: If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you choose to be?

HL: At the beach.

SS: Which living person do you most admire?

HL: I admire all women who fight to make their stories heard, whether those stories are true or fictional.

SS: What are your most overused words or phrases?

HL: I'm trying to cut back on "really", "just", and "I think".

SS: If you could acquire any talent, what would it be?

HL: I'd learn to play the drums.

SS: Who is your favorite fictional hero?

HL: Meg Murry!

SS: Who is your favorite fictional villain?

HL: The shark in Jaws.

SS: What’s your fantasy profession?

HL: Park ranger.

SS: What do you regret most?

HL: Right now? Procrastination.

SS: What’s your greatest flaw?

HL: My temper.

SS: What’s your best quality?

HL: Tenacity.

SS: If you could be any person or thing, who or what would it be?

HL: I like being who I am.

SS: What trait is most noticeable about you?

HL: I have no idea! I have tattooed hands (gasp!) now, so maybe that.

SS: What is your biggest pet peeve?

HL: Drawers and cupboards left open. Doors left ajar.

SS: What is your favorite occupation, when you’re not writing?

HL: Anything outdoors, if the weather's nice.

SS: What is your birthdate?

HL: 9/17

SS: What was/is your favorite job?

HL: During college, I was a clerk in a video store. I loved that job.

SS: Where did you go to high school and/or college?

HL: I started college at the Rochester Institute of Technology and transferred to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago part way through.

SS: What is your favorite movie?

HL: Right now it's a Japanese film, Linda Linda Linda. It's understated and perfect.

SS: What is your favorite television show?

HL: This is always changing. While I was drawing Mercury, House, M.D. was the only thing I wanted to watch.

SS: What were your previous occupations?

HL: Comics and freelance illustration are all I've ever done. I'm very lucky.
