Yeah, okay, it's good.

Let's be honest. I picked up this book for two distinct reasons:

1) It's super hyped and it will soon be a movie
2) It's set in Chicago, where I now live.

That's it, the only reasons. I had no idea going into it what it would be. I fully expected it to be far over-hyped, for it to be silly YA, for it to feel like a copy of other books, etc.

But you know what? I liked it. I found myself eating it up. When I had to put it down because life intervened I found myself sucked back i

It isn't The Hunger Games, but it is pretty good. In a sea of YA dystopias, Divergent stands out for being decently developed and well-written. It kept me engaged throughout (I read the whole book in one sitting on an airplane, and didn't even consider stopping in the middle), and was plausible enough to keep me sucked into the world. There were certainly many things that I hope are explained in general, not much time was spent on explanation, which is a pretty common trend among ...more
Why did I wait so long to read this book it was incredible. I could not put it down and I can not wait for the next one. I wish I was like Tris and could get though all that she did and learn so much about myself, go and bad. Just amazing.
It was fun! And thank goodness it did not involve a love triangle! It made me think about which group I would be a part of and the character was very realistic. Go strong girls!

I’ve been hearing about this book for almost two years now, so I was pretty scared of it. Honestly, though, it deserves all the recognition it has gotten! I love Veronia’s storytelling, and her way with words. She has written some beautiful passages and thought-provoking one-liners. I love Tris and Four, I love all the action and emotions, and I am SO excited to see what happens next!

I picked this up thinking it would take me a little while to get through nearly 500 pages. I could not put it down and finished it within a day.
