Molly Petree is a "spitfire and a burden" and definitely a character! The book is split in thirds- the first third introduces us to Molly, a Civil War orphan and "Refugee Girl" through her very own diary. The second and third books are also first person, but with different narrators and letters from Molly herself. There's a little bit of "Gone wth the Wind" and at lot more of "Jane Eyre" but the character of Molly is original and thought-provoking. The on...more
