This was actually a re-read for me. The first time I read it, I was in the ninth grade and 14 years old. I was supposed to re-read the whole thing for a class last semester, but have only just now finished. At the age of 14, I found this book to be slow with plot and characters taht were too difficult for me to understand. I enjoyed it much more on any levels.

I love Dickens' wit. I find that he has a shrewd grasp of the cultural and social currents of his time. I remember being assigned this in high school and thinking it was the most boring thing I had ever laid eyes on. I loved it this time. I really couldn't put it down.

I had to read this one for English class in high school. It was ok... its not the worst thing I've ever had to read, but if I hadn't "had to" read it then I wouldn't have chosen to.
