Ok, 3 stars because I am sitting on the fence about this book. Yes, I read it within 24 hours like most people because it grabbed my attention, but once I completed the book and came back to reality I was incredibly disturbed by the violence and grimness of the book. How far removed are we from the Capitol, when we read a brutal account of teenagers killing each other for entertainment?

I loved, loved this book! It's well-written: the writing never gets in the way of the story; the author manages to say a lot with very little; I like the author's voice). The story is intriguing. I didn't know, however, that this was book one. The reader is left hanging, and book two doesn't come out until September! VERY FRUSTRATING! The first book I have read in awhile that I am excited to recommend. It comes well-recommended on GoodReads, too!
