Deb
Immigrants from Vietnam settle in Grand Rapids in the '80s and adjust to American life as told through the eyes of Bich, who came here at the age of 5. It was fascinating to see what is important to people not born here (for Bich, it is food) and the struggles of immigrants as they try to assimilate. The reader of this one was obviously Vietnamese herself, which lent authenticity to the reading, but it was not particularly inspired. I did get a little tired of the lists of food.
