Have you ever stood in your house, listening to a quiet, unfamiliar noise, and felt the hair rise on the back of your neck? Cas Lowood has, and the unholy hell of what he finds when he investigates will make you jump a little bit in your seat. He's a 17-year-old who kills the dead with a magic athame, just as his father did before him--and now he's faced with the task of killing Anna, a homicidal ghost who was murdered more than 60 years ago.

Cas is a fantastically strong and appealing protagonis

DAMN! I am extremely pissed off right now. Alice has decided to become a permanent fixture on my computer and I’ve been spending three hours trying to post my review to no avail. The only good that has come of it, is that Alice inspired me to make this:

Goodreads really should replace their original picture with this one, since we all know that Alice is out to get us. Ahem, anyway…

Note: Do not click on the spoilers if you haven’t read the book.

I'm the first to admit that when something is hyped I give it the ol' stink-eye, and I very rarely enjoy something that's popular or that everyone and their brother tells me I'll like. I pounced on this book before the "ZOMG YOU HAVE TO READ THIS!!1!" crazy train rolled into the station, and I'm really glad I did. This is one of those rare instances where everybody likes a book because it's actually good.

I guess I wasn't paying much attention at first glance, mostly to avoid spoilers, but I was

Initial reaction: "Anna Dressed in Blood" had everything I was looking for in a good YA horror story - it features one of my favorite paranormal beings (ghosts), has an awesome protagonist (Cas), great humor, shocking moments and an intriguing enough story/mystery that kept me reading eagerly through until the end.

I loved every moment of it.

I'll start my review by saying that I love a good ghost story. Not so much a ghost "love" story per se, but usually those that have an intriguing

From the fabulous cover that draws the eye and the imagination, to the extraordinary plot that is both chilling and compelling, Anna Dressed in Blood is so full of "Win” that it is no surprise this is the book that everyone is talking about. Billed as Young Adult fiction, I believe this book will appeal to everyone, regardless of genre. Anna Dressed in Blood has all the elements of an incredible ghost story; a creepy haunted house, a violent spirit with a tragic past, and a solitary hero intent ...more

I'll be off to buy the sequel in the morning.

There were some things I really really liked about this, and others that really annoyed me. I wanted Carmel to be fleshed out a little more, and I wanted more of her friends than the typical oh, they're not the girl in this story so they're not good/important. Like YA literature, I will love you when you can care about more than two females at a time, especially if that involves female friendship.

That aside, I appreciated the darkness and the violence and the grief and the world-building here,

Now, if you read my blog, you know that I like to play around with the name of the review. I almost never use the actual name of the book as the title of the review. When I do, there is only one explanation:

The title is unbelievably awesome.

The cover of this book is unbelievably awesome.

This entire book is unbelievably awesome.

Anna Dressed in Blood is unlike anything I've ever read before. It's a haunting story, b

Awesome, awesome, awesome!!!

I loved all the characters and Blake's amazing imagery. One of the best male pov's I've read in a while. I'm completely invested in what happens to all of them. Cas stole my heart as his opened up to his friends and his feelings for Anna. I'm such a sucker for a lonely male main character, especially when they realize what they're missing out on. I do have to say that I'm extremely sad about (view spoiler)

Great book- others have written reviews that would surpass anything I can write so I'll keep this short and bullet pointed
- Took me awhile to get in and stay immersed but the story is well written and beautifully written in places
- I usually dislike YA but this was not a huge detractor for the story, in fact, I think it makes sense that the characters be younger
- The ending was logical for the story, makes sense and the Epilogue made me lol.
- If another book comes out I'll read it!
Wow, amazing. Review to come soon. I actually didn't it scary at all, fucking (awesomely) gruesome. But scary? Naw. I only freaked out when (view spoiler) But otherwise I didn't really get scared.
