I enjoyed this, mostly because I never really knew where the story was going and I was curious to find out. In terms of mood, it reminded me a lot of The Thirteenth Tale - the sense of unreliability in the narration, a heavy atmosphere, buried family secrets, twins, a hint of the supernatural. I couldn't tell if the audio version made me feel a little bit distanced - I didn't particularly care for it, although there was nothing really wrong with it - or if I just didn't get hooked enough to lo...more

My understanding is that this is a privately printed book that grew by word of mouth. I'd believe both.
It shows a need for editing, and there is a certain amount of amateur in the writing.
Nonetheless, I was fascinated by the story. Completely drawn into the characterrs and ever mindful that the main character said that she was crazy and a liar.
I wish that the Calvinists would have been more skillfully drawn. Unfortunately they were cardboard villains.

I enjoyed this book despite being confused a lot of the time. This book was part ghost story, part love story, part psychological thriller all rolled into one.
