My intention, way back in the early 1980's, was to write a poetic journal of my Washington years. After some reflection and the space of twenty some-odd years, I realize that this poem cycle is my introductory work, akin to Sandburg's "Chicago Poems". I have shyly offered it to various friends who have heaped praise upon it, despite it being largely unedited from the original conception.
