You can skip the rest of this review after this paragraph. This book is every bit as good as people say. Maybe it speaks to me more because I'm of an age where I can relate to the thoughts of the protagonist; a real sense of looking over things once you realize there is more behind you than ahead. It's also a pretty good mystery.

For what I read it is well written but I have to say 1/2 way through I got so bored I had to stop. I was waiting for something anything just something interesting to happen. Guess it is not my type of book. Who knows? Life is too short to read books that don't talk to me.

After finishing "The Sense of an Ending" (150 pages) I started reading Kate Atkinson's "Life After Life" (520 pages of which 60 pages are blank. I counted them.) So far LAL is good, really quite good for pop fiction. I've talked to people who found LAL hard to read, it took forever, they had to concentrated to keep everything straight. Say what? It just feels like there's noth ...more
