Masterpiece!!! For years, I made a point of reading this book annually, just to keep my sanity. It has now been at least a decade since my last reading --- which explains a lot about the last decade. Thank you, RVA Bookworms, for giving me the impetus to reconnect with Ignatius Reilly, Mr. Clyde, Miss Trixie, "The Minx" and the rest. Oh, yes -- and my sanity, too. I'm not really sure how I felt about this one. It was funny and harsh but I have a hard time when I don't like the main character, or really any of the characters in this case. Ignatius is infuriating, and I get that that's the point, but I just don't like being mad at the characters for a whole book. Also, after I read something that highlights several repugnant character traits that I can recognize in people in the real world, I get way more critical of people for a little while because I just...more
