What Members Thought

A fabulous cast doing one of my all time favourite stories. Pretty sure the all dialogue, no exposition or narration style would not work as a first exposure to it though. Watch the TV show, or read the book, and revisit later with this, because without already having an idea who the characters are, and where the plot is going, this is probably pretty incoherent.

I still loved it unabashedly though.

This is my third read through. Here's the review I wrote last time.

I'm not quite sure I'd give it 5-star this time through. I'm thinking more 4-stars - but I think most of that has to do with the fact that I read it not that long ago, so it didn't have that freshness to it it did on the first and even second reading. (I read it to refresh myself for a group discussion, else it would've been awhile before I reread it.)

I read a different version this time, though. I think. I got the ISBN number th
A delightfully whimisical tale read to me via audiobook voiced by the ever talented Mr. Gaiman himself. I loved this story of Richard Mayhew, an ordinary man living in London doing ordinary things until one day he comes across an injured young lady and when he helps her, finds himself in the middle of a fantastical tale of London Below and all the folks who have fallen between the cracks.

This has everything, heros and heroines, evil villians, colorful characters, wonderful english humor, adventu
The story (surprise!) doesn't change from the original novel, which I loved, but the dramatization here is quite simply, excellent. It's a whole new way of enjoying the novel, and the production was very polished. McAvoy and Dormer were great here as the leads, with star turns particularly from Christopher Lee and Benedict Cumberbatch. I especially loved the performances of Anthony Head and David Schofield as assassins Mr Vandemar and Mr Croup. I was never really convinced with Dormer in Game of ...more

Starting this one tomorrow - July 22nd.

Finished ... July 31st.

Good story - humorous, kind of a fun thing. Predictable though. I think any reader could have guessed he'd be going home, just like Dorothy. All he needed was a pair of red shoes to click together.

I have notes written down of my thoughts, I need to organize them into a coherent sentences. This I will do soon. In the meantime, do know, I really likes this strange and bizarre tale...a lot.
