What a cute cozy! I found the writing to be more crisp and sparkling (and witty!) than the usual treacly stuff you tend to get in these "theme" cozies. Enjoyed the quotations at each chapter head and the fact that it was written in a way that left you looking forward to the next book in the series- not for more mystery but to find out how Maddie gets on with her Vintage Magic business. Maddie Cutler goes home to CT for her sister's impending wedding. But at a party in their family home, a woman is murdered. And her baby sister is the suspect. Then she finds another talent she has besides fashion design - sometimes the vintage clothes talk to her. Very entertaining - can't wait to start the 2nd. Funny, lady snarky, lots of good fashion in it - good recommendation!
A Veiled Deception was really great compared to other fashion fiction books I have read. I plan on reading book #2. I enjoyed the plot and the twist along the way. I can't wait to see where the author takes the main character Madeira in this series! Her sewing and fashion words for cursing were cute! It really does have all three; Vintage, Magic and Mystery!
fun, fashionable mystery! enjoyed this book-- definitely different; thought the magical element would be a bit cheesy, but it ended up working well in the plot. i also loved the author's use of fashion-related quotes at the beginning of each chapter!
