This was a fascinating book. The background history of coffee and the emergence of coffee as a value in trade was amazingly detailed. The characters wwere wonderful. The writing likewise.

Wonderful historical novel. David Liss creates the sights and smells of the period, along with an interesting and suspenseful storyline.
