This is my best-known novel. Though often given to children as young as the 6th grade because it was a Newbery Honor book, it is really intended for teens and is also enjoyed by many adults

Even though this is a Newbery Honor from the 70's, I'd never seen it until I found the reissue by chance at my local library. Absolutely loved it! I love thinking about humans naturally developing psychic powers, as an evolutionary step, and this is an idea that Engdahl has explored in a lot of depth. ENCHANTRESS is the first book of hers that I read, but I like the CHILDREN OF THE STAR trilogy even better. Fascinating ideas!

One of the best I've read in a long time. Five stars is not nearly enough to do it justice. Just go get it today!!

I loved this book. I think this book would make a terrific movie if made by the right director.

It's sci fi, but not typical (in a good way). The sequel is The Far Side of Evil, which is really good too.
