I was going to go into an extensive review explaining all the reasons that this book disappointed me and why I didn't like it. I didn't hate it, but I can't give it GR's rating of 3 stars(I liked it) either as it would be insulting to my other 3 star reads. I guess 2 stars(it was ok) will suffice.
First off, any comparison to Harry Potter should be immediately dismissed. There is no comparison. Many of the reviews here at GR that are 1 or 2 star basically said all of the important things about wh...more

Nag nag nag. Here I go.
I didn't hate Kvothe as much as some readers, but he was very hard to like and he liked himself enough for everyone.

I still enjoyed it, it just dragged for me in the end. Might be because it's a series and not everything works out like its supposed to yet. I'll have to pick up book two and find out.

I did find it quotable and loved the world it took place in. Needed a bit more lovable character. I'm sure there is much more character building to grow with th...more
