Ready, set, go. www.infinitesummer.org
UPDATE: Aaaand, I'm done. A month ahead of schedule. This book sat on my shelf for more than 10 years and I finally read the thing. By page 200, it started making a lot more sense. By page 400, I was really getting into the characters. And, by page 500, I was absolutely hooked. I just zoomed through the last half of the book. I'll probably pick it up again tomorrow and start rereading parts of it.

I'm going to attempt this infinitesummer.org style - 75 pages a week, June 21st to September 22nd. I do love a loooong book in the summertime.

I remember a television commercial that went like this: A husband triumphantly tells his wife, "It's time to go celebrate--I just finished my novel!" She replies, "That's great, honey--we can drop it off at the library on the way to the restaurant." That's how I feel, having finished this gigantic puzzle of a novel.
Of course, I may have to read it again someday, since it's clear that many of the plot points weren't even intended to make sense the first time thro...more

Wow... After carrying this 5 lb. book around for the past 12 weeks, reading while on trains and buses, I finally finished it up a few minutes ago. I'm not even quite sure what to say other than I highly enjoyed living in this book and sincerely, in more ways than one, wish that it never ended.
Update: I finished reading this two months ago and still think about it most days. This is absolutely one of my favorite books ever.

i will probably write a real review of this later, since no one else on here seems to notice a very large elephant in its room, but i finished this about two weeks ago and i can safely say that i will never look at entertainment the same way again (and this shift in my worldview is a much bigger deal than i originally thought it would be) because of this book. i ended up being cliffs notes for infinite jest for halloween this year.
