So often recently I finish a "children's" book and wonder why we find it necessary to label and thus isolate literature this way. And why children and adults shouldn't be reading some of the same stuff. 'Nation' is just one great book. It's placed in an alternate Nineteenth Century, where they have Darwin, but where science and faith come to an understanding. Where Europeans tramp over the world, but colonialism and cultural imperalism are turned upside down and inside out. Add to...more

If I could give this book more stars I would. This was a fantastic story and I guess it falls under the fantasy genre but I would say this alternate universe is very close to our own. The narrator is great the protagonists wonderful and the story just warmed my heart.
