I enjoyed this book as much as the first. It is a definite page-turner, and I actually grew to like some of the characters a lot more than I had in the first book. Having read reviews of all three books I kind of had an idea of what was going to happen, but it was still fun to read and see how everything plays out. I’m now a fan of Diana & Henry and hope that somehow things can work out for them. Penelope is still awful! I almost feel sorry for her, she probably could have anyone she wants, bu...more

I just finished Rumors about 15 minutes ago, and I can honestly say, it was a perfect sequel to the second. The action of the book starts off almost immediately where the last, Luxe, ended.
When I found out there would be a sequel, I was a bit skeptical, since it seemed like most of the drama was winding down into little happy endings....boy was I wrong! Not only does the author resurrect the drama and backstabbing from Luxe, she intensifies it. Some of the tension and manipulation had me ...more

Rumors turned out to be a highly predictable, irritating story. So why did I give it three stars? Well, mostl because there's no option to give 1/2 stars because I would have preferred to give it a 2.5. Plus, there was still something sinfully delicious about all of the back-biting, rumor mongering that went on. Even though as one event in the story occurs, you know exactly how it's going to affect the rest of the story, I still (guiltily) found that I could not stop reading. I was highly di...more

Yes, still liking the Luxe series, even as I criticize Ms. Godbersen's writing in my mind. (I really, really wish her editor would clean up the 5+ split-infinitives that seem to show up on every damn page.)

I liked this book better than the first one, but I waffled so long between 3 and 4 stars ... this is a high-3, almost a low-4. It would have been a solid 4 if not for the ending. It is totally set up for the next book while The Luxe felt more "finished" even though I knew there would be more to the story. The ending definitely sets up the next book opening more interesting and to just dive into the story, but there are a lot of loose ends and other events at the end of Rumors that ...more

The cover of this book is fabulous! I liked this book so much more than the first one. Because it came to me as a book for review, I felt obligated to check it out. I finished it because the story was compelling and I was caught up in following the plot. I didn't like the sexual content (minimal), but can't really remember any foul language. I have to admit that I will be waiting for the sequel to this book because I have to know what happens next. While this book is considered young adult...more

3.5 stars.
I was going to give it just three, but then the last few chapters changed my mind. Those were entirely unexpected and make me eager to dig into Envy .
As much as this series is sometimes described as fluff, I think it's well-written and historically-accurate fluff.
