I'm Aggie Villanueva and I'm traditionally published (Thomas Nelson) but I've chosen the self-publishing route now. Not to confuse vanity (subsidy) publishing with self-publishing.

Self published authors today are not the authors who can't make it at a traditional house. Many are like me and refuse to submit to them by choice, not by rejection.

Of course I don't intend anything negative towards traditional houses, but I also applaud Indie authors for not settling for being the "employee" of a publishing house, who takes ownership of their work, and I give them great respect them for taking back their own creative power.

And I’m not alone in my opinion. Just one example: USA Today’s “Best-Selling Books” list was only the first to include Kindle eBooks in their list, no differentiation between traditionally and self-published books—just which books sell best. [close]
