Let me introduce you to your Officers of Peace: Kandice and Fiona.

Do you look for a little mind bender, who-dunnit when you read? Does a murder at the beginning and a nice bow-wrapped jail sentence at the end leave you satisfied? Are you simply thrilled with the mechanics of detective and forensic work?

Sometimes it's as simple as Christie's Miss Marple or Hercule Poirot leading us by the nose, step by step, with that satisfying wrap-up at the end. Other times, it's Perry Mason's unerring belief in his client's innocence and his ability to prove it.

How about Cornwell's in depth forensics chases? Who knew what really went on in the morgue before her? How much of a story the dead had to tell.

Or J.D. Robb's futuristic Dallas, showing us not only who and how they did it, but the way criminals will work, and be caught, in the near future.

Occasionally we even want to be scared. Saul, Cook, even Crichton. Some thrillers aren't meant to be read in the dark...or are they?
