A Simple House is a Catholic missionary organization currently operating in Washington, DC and Kansas City. We host a Catholic book club each month. Hopefully this group will be an easy way for all of us in both cities to suggest books, read commentaries, and vote each month.
This book club's purpose is to promote the spiritual growth of its members. We choose books that are spiritually focused in the Catholic tradition and true to orthodox Catholic teaching. Sometimes we read new books, but we try to balance our reading out with the classics. We have a three-month rotation of fiction, light non-fiction, and heavy non-fiction. We usually pick books that are less than 400 pages, and often they are around 200 pages.
I added the books from our ongoing list and chose a number of books from the Catholic Information Center's lifetime reading plan to get our bookshelves started. I will be the group editor for now. Any member can add books, but since there are a wide number of books that are not suited for our purposes, I will be removing such books if they are added to our shelves! [close]
