I think it's a good idea, but just like Bellsy, I'm married to someone for almost 25 years who hasn't read anything but work-related books in all that time. So book compatibility isn't a be all and end all, but if I was single I'd probably check it out.
Booo - I loved Everything Is Illuminated.I can't believe Edgar Sawtelle is on there. Other than that, I loved all 15 of the fiction that I've read. I do agree about White Teeth over On Beauty. She just came out with a book of essays/musings which is supposed to be just great. I don't read much non-fiction these days, but I'd like to read that, as well as Devil in the White City.
Jaime, I too like to mix up heavy with light. One way I choose is by reading reviews - that's how I discovered GR to begin with. This gives me great insight into not only the plot (or lack of), but the mood of the book. If there are a few books in from my library holds list, I start with those. And if more than one appeal to me then I read the first page of each. Often I become engrossed and find myself already on pg 5, which is my answer!
I've got the 100 page rule myself. Life's too short, my to-read list too large!Sally, I think that's very true. I don't read much non-fiction or biographies these days but if they weren't doing anything for me I'd toss them as well. I do have to feel a connection no matter what, with the subject and the writing.
Hee yeah I hate that mapquest/google map stuff. For me it goes thru 10 steps for me to get to the highway. Which is really not that complicated.
I should start wearing one again, at least it was an easy flick of my wrist. Now I have dig my phone out of my pocket at least 3x in rapid succession to maybe retain the time, and now that it's cold outside this also means taking off and on my glove. Can I admit what a relief it was to see I am not suffering from some dreadful cognition problem? Or if I am, then everyone else is too, and misery does love company.
I HATE O as well. And she tearily announces it 22 months before? Why? Attention whore. Needs her ratings to climb?

Heidi is one of the only celebs I kind of like. There's always pictures of her without makeup with her kids at some playground or park. She seems pretty down to earth. And also you can tell she's not that svelte underneath the belly part of that outfit, and she's not hiding it either. But other than that, I'm with Sally - puhlease! I'm sick of seeing super thinness after having a baby in Hollywood with the assumption that if every woman just got off their asses and stopped eating bons bons we could look like that. Could it possibly be that maybe normal women are just far more engrossed with their baby and not in starving/exercising to become thin again?
Gah = I don't find any of those men sexy AT ALL except Depp, Cho, and Downey who has a very sexy intensity.
A fox! I've never seen a fox in the wild. Probably because they'd get eaten by the coyotes here? Nice, I'd love to see a fox.
Well, I do recall that Nick knows her personally, and has worked with her husband, right Nick? But we haven't talked about that since the last election, so eager to hear your response now.
Hey, baths use less water than showers! And I do like a man who can let go to the sensual delights of baths and nice scents.
3 cats and also a fish tank with some pretty tough fishies considering they are still alive. Sally, it's not as though I go around with a placard that says Yid on it, ha, so why should you know?
Don't you know it's politically incorrect to call someone a Nazi? As a Jew, I feel obliged to report this to Otis & Co.YOU NAZI SLIME!
