He wasn't exactly likable in Hard Candy.

9859 Glad to see that you enjoyed the movie, Alex. I was also one of those people who went into the movie fully expecting to hate it and then wound up enjoying myself. Jackie Earle Haley is incredible as Rorschach. And you could tell that Snyder as well as the cast understood what they were doing and the story they were trying to tell.

9859 For Alex:

MST3K: Pod People -- here.

Some of my favorites:

MST3K: Devil Doll -- here.

MST3K: Puma Man -- here.

MST3K: The Final Sacrifice -- here.

MST3K: Manos: The Hands of Fate -- and here! :)

Personally, Manos: The Hands of Fate and The Final Sacrifice are my favorites, the former being from the early seasons, the latter from the later seasons.

9859 Well, I just watched the MST3K version of Prince of Space last night. It wouldn't have been nearly as interesting without Mike and the 'Bots, though (which is, of course, the point of MST3K).

It's a Japanese movie about alien invaders that look like they're part bird and the superhero who fights them while skipping about in a white leotard and informing them that their weapons are useless against him (though he's right -- they are).

Oh, and They Live is on TV as I'm typing this. The kick ass fight scene is just minutes away. They Live is, IMHO, a classic of the modern scifi genre.

But...how could he possibly know which demonic unicorn dancing with Abbott and Costello while all of them were wearing doctor's scrubs, clown shoes, and viking helmets to throw to?

Not that I'd know about such things either...

9859 I agree with that. The constant movement of the camera was a bit much.

9859 I actually really it. I thought Zachary Quinto was great as Spock, as was Simon Pegg as Scotty.

I really liked the romance between Uhura and Spock. I certainly wasn't expecting it, but it in no way seemed forced or contrived. The scene in the turbolift was my favorite scene, and I'm not much of a romance person.

I thought the Romulan ship was really cool and Eric Bana did a great job as the bad guy.

I got a kick out of all the in jokes, such as Chekov having problems making the computer understand him because of his V's (I kept waiting for him to say "nuclear wessles") and the fact that the guy who went down with Kirk and Sulu to shut off the drill was wearing a red suit and promptly got killed.

I thought the ice planet was kinda funny, mainly because I half expected Han Solo and a Taun-Taun to come riding through.

I was pretty disturbed when Vulcan was destroyed, but at least they didn't pull any tricks in order to bring it back in the end.

The action was great and the actors did a really good (and, I thought, quite respectful) job of portraying such iconic characters. Though I am slightly disturbed that I now think Spock (at least this Spock) is cute. ;)

Overall, I'd totally go see it again. It was just a whole lot of fun (and there was a tribble!)
