Hmmm, weird. Thanks for letting me know.
I have I'm Not Stiller, The Drowned and the Saved and If This is a Man all waiting for me at the hold desk at the library. I am not sure which one I will start first.
I love my public library! If a book I want is at another branch they will send it to my local branch and I just have to go to the desk to pick it up. I do everything (requests and renewals) online.
The Melancholy of Resistance by Laszlo Krasznahorkai. I'm only about 35 pages in but so far it's kind of slow going.
Rory, I've never seen the film. I was assigned the book in a college course and I didn't think I would like it. War stuff really just isn't my bag but it turned out to be one of my favorite books.
The Berlin Stories by Isherwood knocks off two books at once with Goodbye Berlin and The Last of Mr Norris.

Next up is All Quiet on the Western Front..."
All Quiet on the Western Front is my number one "I was shocked that I liked this book" book.
I just finished The Color Purple and I loved it. It turned out to be not at all what I was expecting.
Luckily, most of the books on my "have-it-to-read" shelf are on the 1001 list. I don't know if I can really go a whole year without buying any new books though. It's only the end of January. You can hold me up as an example of self-restraint later in the year. I might crack under the pressure of my addiction way before then. I am just happy that I can now fit them all on one shelf of my bookshelf (except for Bleak House).
